This is a clean, well kept, older property; a more traditional Hawaiian place to stay. This is NOT a resort property, and they are completely upfront about that. We loved our stay because it was exactly what we wanted. While it is on the water, there is no direct beach access (but there are amazing beaches just a couple of min. driving or 10-15 min. walking). From the sea wall, we were able to watch sea turtles and stingrays each evening slowly swimming by. The units have a kitchen, sitting area, and dining area which allowed us great flexibility in our choice of dining. We don't typically spend much time in the room itself so the outside areas were much appreciated as was the lack of a TV. Wifi was very good, so we still were able to remain connected to the outside world, but only when we wanted. If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to then venture out over the island, you will love this location. If you are lookin for an all inclusive resort... look elsewhere. Thank you to MaKai Sunset Inn for helping us have exactly the Hawaiian experience we were looking for.
