Unique & Comfortable 3 bedroom home at ground level with amazing 400 sq ft. outdoor recreation area up in a gigantic oak tree! This special compound is a great location for a unique get-away for family travel or for work groups. Our outdoor compound has plenty of space to enjoy the huge deck, fire pit, frisby golf, outdoor grill, picnic areas ---as well as relaxing in our unique treehouse. Then go inside to enjoy the home's open floor plan with a central area for living, dining and cooking. Big screen TV with Netflix and a few local channels. Super-fast internet throughout the property. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking for your group. Of course this is South Louisiana and we love feeding folks. We have everything you need to cook and serve a feast for 12 people. The coffee bar has both a big coffee pot and a Keurig. We anticipate that folks from your group will want to drink coffee and listen to the birds in the morning…sit on the deck or go up in the tree! We have a dozen wine glasses and a collection of Nostalgia Records for a relaxing evening indoors or out. The open floor plan with kitchen, dining and lounge provide a central gathering area. Upscale appliances include a full size gas range and oven, microwave, side by side refrigerator/freezer with ice maker. Our well equipped kitchen has cooking and serving capacity for 12 people. Multiple outdoor dining and lounge areas are on the deck and ground level. Guest love the outdoor kitchen area, grill and sink. Each bedroom has a desk or laptop bar workstation. Working from "home" is quiet and productive. The outdoor spaces also allow for lots of privacy for phone calls and work on laptops because we have super-fast internet connections throughout the property. Our mild Louisiana weather allows us to enjoy the outdoor living areas almost all year long! Two of our bedrooms have access to decks. Lots of privacy for everyone! The three large comfortable bedrooms offer great flexibility . Each room features a blend of antiques and contemporary furnishings. We hope you love the art and mood lighting in each bedroom. We hope you will enjoy the special features! The West wing has a Private Suite with a queen bed , TV and its own spa bathroom. This wing has a door that separates it from the rest of the house, as well as an exit to the deck. The suite has a desk and plenty of room for work-related projects. In the south wing of the house, we have two bedrooms. Our Reflection Bedroom has an oriental theme, a queen bed, desk, office chair and dressing area. The Remember Bedroom is our largest room with its own outdoor porch area and small yard. It has rich antiques, a queen bed and a trundle bed that sleeps two people. The desk and office chair make it great for working adults. The other amenities make it a quick set up as the “kids room”. This room has a closet where we store the 2 floor beds, the port-a-crib and toddler bed. This very flexible room allows guests to configure sleeping for 8 adults or for a combination of adults and children. In total, there are 3 queen beds, 2 single beds, (trundle bed) 1 fold-out sofa (in the living room) and 1 fold-out foam bed. (in the closet), totaling 7 beds + a crib + toddler bed.. Maximum sleeping capacity is 8 adults. Even when you add in children, everyone will have a comfy place to sleep. We are perfect for family groups and allow you to have up to 8 local guests come for a family gathering during the day (9am-9PM) Please contact us to make a request prior to booking if you want to schedule daytime guests. We often host work groups and want to specify that construction work groups can have no more than 8 adults. For an additional charge we provide weekly cleaning for work groups who book for more than a week. Please discuss with the Host prior to booking a work crew. We have parking for larger vehicles and work trucks. Please let us know your specific work group needs. Our high speed internet can accommodate multiple users. Our room arrangement allows for private work stations. Some guests have called our property an urban oasis. We are in an older section of Lafayette that has a blend of residential, commercial and industrial occupants. The property has fencing and landscape that makes it feel separated from other properties and activities. It feels like a private retreat for our guests. The neighborhood is not a typical suburban neighborhood. The home is spacious, clean and comfortable, but not so fancy that you have to worry about normal family or workgroup activities. We own 2 adjacent properties and our family likes living and working in this neighborhood. If you need housing for a larger group, check out renting our two additional guesthouses: Elegant Gourmet Guesthouse and The Cameron. We have parking for 4 guest vehicles. in our well-lighted off-street area. We can also accommodate oversize trucks and trailers in our adjacent private parking lot. Our treehouse recreation area is actually a covered deck build with a tree in the middle! Because of elevation of the Treehouse, there are some safety precautions that you will need to monitor. No one is to climb in the tree or to sleep in the Treehouse. Children 15 and under need to be accompanied by an adult when visiting the Treehouse. There are areas marked as private that are restricted from use by guests. The person who makes the booking will need to walk the property and the Treehouse to give an orientation to the children and other guests about safety issues. We do allow guests to bring one or two dogs and we charge an additional cleaning fee of $50\. Please contact us prior to booking and give me the breed, age and weight of your dog. Dogs are not allowed on the beds or sofas. Please bring two covers for the sofa, and a dog bed. Please bring a crate if you intend to leave your dog home alone. The yard has fences, but they may not securely keep a pet in the yard without supervision. Pease scoop poop, etc and help us prepare for our next guests. Please feed your dog outside. We are able to accommodate guests with some mobility issues. There are three steps with a handrail from the parking lot to the deck. The hall bathroom has a barrier free entrance to the shower. Hallways and bedrooms accommodate a wheelchair or walker. Please let us know if you or your guests have special needs. We have been hosting for more than 10 years, consistently receiving 5 star reviews. so we know how to create a comfortable and safe experience for our guests. Other amenities include a frisy golf unit for "disk golf", a professional grill, picnic table and covered dining area. if you need particular cooking items, just ask. We are well-equipped for large group cooking. Our location is easy to find and centrally located. The host was extremely responsive, very welcoming, highly recommend. The house was well situated for our needs. Also, the fact that our family in town could come over and have dinner was a huge plus. The treehouse guesthouse was perfect for our family. The outdoor space was awesome, we spent most of our time in the treehouse due to the weather raining almost the entire time but we made the best out it. The backyard hangout was the highlight for us. We had fun with the disc golf basket and treehouse. Had everything we needed for amenities for our group of 8\. There was a minor issue with the heat that the host addressed immediately. The only issue was that the oven makes the whole place smell like gas when using it. They said it was normal, but it most definitely is not. We also would have preferred to only have to communicate with the host vs the host, her son, and the HVAC tech. Not a big deal, but the preference would have been to just let ourselves in and have one point of contact. ##### Zach B. From the large, fun treehouse and disc golf cage, to the eclectic touches in the house, this property is fun and cozy. We stayed on property for 4 weeks and it really felt like home away from home. The property owners are nearby and very responsive to request or questions. It is also conveniently located to many areas of the Lafayette. A jewel of an experience!! ##### Connie F. My husband myself and our two teenage daughters a long with our friends and their two young children came from Canada to Louisiana for a week and this place was exactly what we were looking for. The yard is all fenced in with lots of privacy and backyard games to play, super cute at night with all the lights in the yard on . The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. Tankless water heater provided enough hot water for all to shower. Communications with host was prompt. Tons of seating areas around the property. Loved that all the rooms had ceiling fans. The bad: Even though the treehouse was the reason I rented this unit, was very uncomfortable with the children up there. There are several areas where safety was a big risk; screens were not secured or popped out completely, missing rail replaced with a loose strap, areas needing more rails to prevent falls. Needs much work in order to comply with any safety inspection, if there is such a thing with VRBO. Also, too many personal items (ladder, old wood, saw blade, etc) were scattered throughout the property outdoors, giving it a shabby look. ##### Ida F. My brother flew in from Florida and my husband and I drove in from Texas. Being able to sit and visit in the evenings, cook meals together with my brother from Rayne was exactly what I was looking for. There’s so much more time to spend bonding after being apart when you share a home, rather than staying in a hotel. To address the location: yes, it looks like it’s in an industrial area. It’s not. There was never any activity in the warehouse or parking that abuts it to the north. The rest of the street is residential. The area is very quiet. I never felt unsafe. We spent part of each evening sitting in the yard under the large oak. I booked the property and my Florida brother had his doubts after looking at a satellite view. Upon leaving though, he said it was nice and he’d stay there again. He’s finicky, so that was high praise indeed! ##### Carolyn L. The property is quite secluded with plenty of space. We used 2 of the 3 bedrooms on each end of the house. Each had private baths. This is an old house with a lot of customizations by a non professional but very interesting if you like a creative mindset. Plenty of outdoor seating areas and drinks in the treehouse is fun. Interesting artwork and displays throughout. Didn't have cable but did have roku and Netflix which was fine for us. Appliances all worked, fast hot water, beds a little hard but comfortable enough. Owner and caretaker responsive within the hour which was appreciated. Lafayette doesn't have much in the way of Cajun or zydeco during the week, but we found several venues on the weekend. Would stay here again because of the uniqueness. If you want your floors all even and drywall without pictures and hooks everywhere, then this place is not for you. If you are creative, then you'll love it! ##### Linda D.
