"Excellently located hotel close to the old port"
Arrived at rush hour and had difficulties in actually getting to the hotel which is surrounded by no entry signs - we got there on the fourth attempt! Make sure you reserve a parking space when booking. Excellent information from all the staff about what to see do etc. Liked the fact that we did not have to vacate our room until midday. The breakfast was extensive, tasty and brilliant value for money. Loved the location for accessibility to the historic parts and extensive choice of eateries/shopping. The wifi was very good. The shower wasn't hot enough. The products were very good. No tea making in the room but the bar price for tea was reasonable and selection available was extensive. Car parking very secure. Would recommend to friends and stay again without hesitation.

"La Rochelle Vieux Port Sud"
Nice hotel, good staff, brilliant location. Problem with the car park the bays are too small and there aren't enough of them. I had my car door damaged by an adjacent car. The town itself is stunning with plenty of historical points of interest, restaurants and bars. There is street entertainment at night, altogether a lovely place to stay. There are many interesting placed to visit just a short drive away

"Very welcoming modern hotel"
Our group of six travelers had a lovely stay overnight at this hotel. Courteous welcoming staff from the front desk to the bar and restaurant. Our supper meal was delicious, and the breakfast buffet was great; high quality and extensive selection. The location was also nice, in the park and within a short walk of the old harbour. I highly recommend this hotel.

Hôtel Atlantic

23 Rue Verdière, La Rochelle - Map
"Nice hotel, good location, recommended. "
Stayed just one night after arriving by Ryanair on a rainy Sunday night. The Hotel Atlantic is just a couple of hundred meters from Place de Verdun. The hotel looks typically shabby on the outside for a French hotel but has clearly been recently renovated to a good standard. The room was not large - just big enough to move around and nowhere to hang your coat. I was not disturbed by any noise during the night, which is important to me. If I was staying more than one night, I'd want a bigger room. Immaculately clean. We had breakfast, which was of a standard fare, but I thought that it was a bit overpriced. I would be happy to stay there again though.

Hôtel Les Brises

Rue Philippe Vincent, La Rochelle - Map
"Make sure you have a room with a sea view"
Stayed in room 34 which had a fantastic sea view. Paid £100 per night for 4 nights. Would describe room as basic and in need of an update. You are paying for the view but if you are already aware of that before you go then you cannot complain. Quiet location but just keep your fingers crossed for considerate neighbours. Ours had a massive "domestic" at midnight. Some people do not consider anyone but themselves!

"Close to the main road into La Rochelle"
I paid £43 for a double room at this hotel, a very good price for the location. The reception and cafe restaurant is excellent and good value for money. The wifi worked in the room, and although the room is basic, the beds and bedding are very comfortable also the bathroom is adequate and was spotlessly clean.

This port town on the Bay of Biscay is the starting point of a bridge connected to Ile de Re. The area dates back to the 10th century and is famous for having well-maintained heritage sites. Visitors and locals alike take advantage of the warm temperatures for boat trips to surrounding islands.
