Situated on a unique 640-acre private parcel of forested land surrounded on all sides by the Deschutes National Forest, there are limitless trails for hiking, biking, x-country skiing and snowshoeing and the private lake offers free fishing, kayaking, canoeing and SUP. There is a wonderful 2-mile hike around the lake, a lakeside deck with chairs and a picnic table, a swimming dock and a lakeside fire pit (not allowed during fire season). The Hillside Cabin is one of five luxury vacation rental homes at Tumalo Lake Lodge (tumalolakelodge). The Hillside Cabin is a high-end masterpiece of craftsmanship, constructed of huge Douglas Fir beams, cedar siding and shakes. Huge windows in every room provide a tree-house sensation with amazing views of nature in every direction. The large wrap-around deck and comfortable Adirondack chairs and rockers allow for relaxing in the fresh air while taking in the gorgeous natural surroundings and views. The beautiful furnishings create an ambiance of casual luxury. The cabin's interior features knotty pine wood walls, doors and trim, knotty alder cabinets, and granite counter tops. The first floor open floor plan includes radiant heated floors and decorative rugs. The living area has a wood-burning stove and huge windows with lake views. The dining area has floor to ceiling windows with views of nature on all sides. The kitchen area features granite counter tops and stainless appliances including a Jenn-Air professional stove. There is a half bath on this floor. The second floor features gorgeous high-pitched wood ceilings, two charming queen bedroom suites with private baths and a second living room area. The upstairs living area has huge windows with commanding views of the lake and a queen sofa bed. Bedrooms feature iron beds with quilts, cozy down comforters and pillows, and high thread count sheets. Each bedroom has amazing views in three directions and also has two large window seats perfect for curling up with a good book. The ensuite baths feature either a large walk-in shower or bathtub, granite counter tops, Italian tile, radiant heated floors, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion amenities and hair dryer. There are a multitude of activities and amenities right out your door on the Tumalo Lake property. Enjoy hiking (there is a wonderful 2-mile hike around the lake and other longer ones), mountain biking, swimming, boating (complimentary kayaks, canoes, SUPs), fishing (no license required), birding, and playing cornhole and horseshoes. Relax on your private deck in a hammock or at the shared fire pit or lake deck, and stargaze from your private hot tub. While wildlife viewing from your deck, the lake deck or on the lake in your kayak/canoe you may spot ducks, blue heron, osprey, golden eagles, bald eagles as well as great horned owl, pileated woodpecker and others. In winter, snowshoe, sled, x-country ski, cozy up around your wood-burning stove or outside with s'mores at the shared fire pit. Bend and the surrounding area are world-famous for both outdoor pursuits and pristine beauty. You can catch an art exhibit, dine at an award-winning restaurant, shop the boutiques, spoil yourself at one of our many spas, trek the legendary Bend Ale Trail, listen to live music or a enjoy a local festival. Bend makes a great spot for family-friendly fun as well, from cool snowshoe tours in some of Bend's snowy forests to watching raptors soar at the High Desert Museum. The area is a haven for summer and winter activities including river and mountain hiking, biking, golf, river rafting, fly fishing, rock climbing, skiing, and snow shoeing. View or hike around breathtaking mountain lakes. Oct 16, 2024 #### Another wonderful stay The cabins at Tumalo Lake are about 15 minutes from downtown Bend. They are beautiful, quiet and have everything you need for a relaxing stay. We come every fall for a week and always enjoy the Hillside Cabin (we are a party of two). We love the outdoors. There are several good hiking trails in the vicinity. Tracy and Bill are great hosts. Well-appointed, extremely clean and the hosts had even prepped a fire in the fireplace for us... we just had to light it on arrival. They really have thought of everything. The whole property is gorgeous. It's so secluded, and quiet and beautiful. We enjoyed seeing the original cabin still on site and the photos of the property in our cabin were a nice touch. This place has quickly became our go to destination to reset the circuits running a fast paced food business. Our lodge is always impeccable and cozy. With all amenities at our finger tips. The on site crew is alway attentive ensuring our place is accessible and our surrounding area is nice. Bill and Tracy are always amazing and fast to get back to us if we ever need anything or have questions. There was a big snow storm that came in on this last stay, it was absolutely incredible and beautiful. The cabin, lake, and property are just as fabulous as they look in the photos and made for a fantastic trip. Clean and fully provisioned, we wanted for nothing more while we were there. We got in a Crater Lake day trip, and visits to Bend, OR. The cabin is nestled in the woods but just a quick drive to Bend. Absolutely considering a revisit! ##### Keith L. Oct 1, 2024 #### Beautiful and Tranquil We have stayed at Tumalo Lake Lodge every year for 6 six years (except the year of staying home during COVID). As always, the stay was excellent. We stayed in the Hillside Cabin and in the past the Creekside Cabin. The cabins are fully equipped in the kitchen with all appliances, coffee maker, Olive oil, spices, salt & pepper, sugar etc. Always a treat to stay here with such a well-stocked kitchen and other amenities throughout the cabin. Having the lake, hiking and biking right out our front door is amazing and wonderful. The serenity and peacefulness of this place is why we keep coming back. Oh, and the hosts, Tracy & Bill, always take very good care of the cabins, lodge, environment and their guests. ##### Kenneth V. Our Hillside cabin was luxurious and fully equipped with top-notch appliances and everything we needed. We also spent a lot of time at the Lakeside West cabin with our extended family, enjoying delicious meals together. The resort offered endless fun activities - we hiked the 2-mile loop daily, spotting elk and deer, and took advantage of the kayaks, paddle boards and canoes to explore the lake. We even caught some small trout and swam in the crystal-clear water. The kids had a blast playing in the lake. The resort exceeded our expectations in every way. Oct 2, 2023 #### Another wonderful stay We visit Tumalo Lake Lodge every year (usually in late September/early October). We stay at the Hillside Cabin and love it. The cabin is nicely furnished, provides a great view and is very cozy. Bill and Tracy are very responsive and accommodating which is great. We use the cabin as our home base to hike in the Greater Bend area which provides so many wonderful hiking trails. There are several in the immediate vicinity of the cabin. There is a two mile hike around Tumalo Lake which is a nice extra to relax the muscles after a long hike in the mountains. Also, the hot tub on the patio is a nice feature to relax after a long day of hikes. We are already planning our next trip to Tumalo Lake Lodge. ##### Ruediger S. Dec 17, 2023 #### Yet Another Great Getaway to Natureā€™s Camelot So this year I added 4 additional days to what I hope will become an annual stay at the amazing, secluded, beautiful, and private Tumalo Lake-Hillside Cabin. I remembered the feeling of having to leave last year and so I knew I had to add additional days this year. Whatā€™s not to love about this utopia?! You have all the comforts of a home away from home and yet you still feel like youā€™re light years away from the rat race and all of the stress from within and around it. I especially love that the property these cabins sit on is a private and sanctioned area of wilderness, nestled in a small valley (comparatively) of a Deschutes Wilderness Preserve. It is literally and figuratively speaking a nature sanctuary. I love the reactions I get when show pictures and videos of my stay at Hillside Cabin. And Iā€™d bet a significant amount of money that if you ever made one of the smartest vacation commitments to stay here, youā€™ll never forget the private, two mile dirt road drive up to the gated entrance, and continuing on to the cabins. The experience as a whole just gets better and better, and better. Thereā€™s so much to do, see, experience, and take in. Iā€™m not even exaggerating when I convey to you that even staying indoors is an experience in and of itself. I canā€™t wait until my next booking! My preferred time to visit is in the Winter. Postcard perfect and yes, though youā€™re comfortable and toasty indoors, it can get very cold outdoors but itā€™s an experience for all of the senses that you never forget. Me personally; I love sound crunchy snow in the morning! Sounds likeā€¦Victory! ##### James I. I began each morning with a kayak ride and a two mile hike around the lake. The host was lovely, beds were dreamy, the hot tub divine, the kitchen well stocked, and the can beautifully well made. Our stay at the Hillside Cabin was absolute perfection. The natural beauty of the lake and pine covered hillsides combined with the gorgeous, comfortable cabin made this place so special and perfect for us. It is a nature lovers paradise. Each day we enjoyed a walk around the lake, paddling on the lake and soaking it all in from our private deck. When it gets quiet at Tumalo Lake it becomes silent except for the sounds of nature. The quality of the cabin and furniture is tip-top and the place is very clean. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances, silverware, coffee, spices.
