Yes you can! At Casela Nature Park, which is about 30 mins drive from Loukaz, you will find yourself immersed in an African game reserve. There you will meet the lions, cheetahs, giraffes and elands amongst many others. Mauritius has only 2% of its primary forest left, with a major part hiding in private hunting reserves. Nevertheless, Les Gorges National Park is public & free of access. Put on your shoes and choose the most suitable hike for your level or ambition of the day. We strongly recommend you to explore that area for 2 days. The endemic fauna & flora changes drastically from sea level to the higher plates of Plaine Champagne! If ever you feel tired, or do not have enough time to do it all, Ebony Forest would be a great alternative. This project inherited from a nature lover’s enthusiasm to recreate a primary forest in the heart of Chamarel. In Chamarel you will also have plenty of restaurants that serve typical creole food. Chez Pierre Paul, Palais de Barbizon, Le Chamarel Restaurants are a few good amongst them. One of our favorite activities in the South West is to jump in the car on a sunny day and head south. Maconde’s coastal road and viewpoint were ranked amongst the 10 most scenic routes worldwide in 2021\. You won’t be disappointed as the road keeps on delivering surprises.
