The Lisney Grand Log Cabin is located in S.W. Wisconsin in one of the most scenic parts of the state, commonly referred to as the “Driftless Region”. Imagine relaxing in a large 1,500 sq. ft. Amish built log cabin with a grand wrap-around porch overlooking the Kickapoo Valley Reserve State Park (6,800 acres). You may find yourself sitting on the porch swing with a good book, occasionally interrupted by white tail deer, Sandhill cranes, wild turkeys or bald eagles. There is large backyard for your kids to play in. A grill and fire ring is provided. Local firewood is available for purchase at $20 per wheel barrow. Inside on the first floor is an open floor plan with a cathedral ceiling, and 2 private bedrooms and a full porcelain tile bathroom with tub/shower, sink, toilet and unlimited supply of hot water. The kitchen is fully furnished with all the cooking utensils, pots and pans, dishes, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and modern stove and refrigerator. Just bring your family’s favorite foods. Separate bins are provided for recycling. We are inspected by the State of Wisconsin each year and licensed. We have CO2, and smoke detectors as well as fire extinguishers throughout the cabin. Cabin has both A/C and heat year-round. Original art and antiques can be found throughout the cabin, some even for sale. Upstairs is a sleeping loft with 6 additional beds (cabin can sleep 10 in total). The area is an outdoor lover’s paradise offering a plethora of family geared activities close by; such as bird watching, hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hunting, kayaking, skiing, snowmobiling and horseback riding. There are also scenic country roads following the winding Kickapoo River, populated by Amish farms and local artisan shops selling anything from cheese to cut flowers. Many wineries in the area offer tasting rooms and sell their local product. And if that is not enough, several miles down the road is Wildcat Mountain State Park with magnificent trails and look-outs. However, there are no big box stores, fast food restaurants, traffic jams, pollution, noise, nor stoplights. Please keep in mind our sister property: the Rustic Ridge Resort (www.RusticRidgeResort.weebly.com), for Weddings and larger events, and campsite rentals. Full kitchen to make all meals. Very clean and super cute. We had a relaxing couple of days over Thanksgiving weekend. It was cold but we hiked Wildcat Mountain, the Ice Cave Trail as well as many spots in the Kickapoo reserve. Beautiful Amish country with cool antique shops around. We visited Wildthings Furs right around the corner and bought affordable furs. We also found some treasures at the Amish Walmart. The reception is spotty at the cabin, perfect for unplugging for awhile. We watched the Packer game at the Rockton bar, a 5 minute walk down the road. We brought a small tv and a PlayStation to watch old movies on and played a few games. It is not actually located in La Farge but in a small town about 9 miles away called Rockton. (It is unincorporated so I assume that is why it says it is located in La Farge). The cabin felt like a modern version of Little House on the Prairie. Wifi was not available and our cell service was very poor so using our GPS to get around the area was tricky sometimes. The owners were very responsive when we had questions. Be sure to read through the entire description before reserving. I assumed that beds would have linens and they didn't. Also, I didn't realize I had to adjust the number of guests that would be staying there so it added an unexpected cost at check-out. We were thrilled that we could bring our dog (for a fee). We had a great weekend, but a few details negatively impacted our stay. First, we were notified at the last minute that we had to bring pillows, bedding and even bath towels as they are not provided 'due to covid'. We are way past covid, not providing basic essentials for a short term stay is a joke. To have to haul your own blankets and especially bath towels was a poor guest experience. I had to go buy bath towels from Dollar General so we could shower. This host charges a fee for every guest beyond two guests. Those extra guests have to stay on beds with no linens or pillows, and they don't even have bath towels. There is zero extra accommodations provided, they just charge the fee to make more money. I had to negotiate with the host and convince them to refund us for extra guests that we were charged for but ultimately didn't have (I booked for 10 but only 8 could make it). At first the guest attempted to not refund us! I hope the host reconsiders this practice. On a positive note, the cabin is just what you would picture from an Amish built log cabin - very beautiful! The cabin is in an amazing location and the host was a great communicator, he was responsive and took the time to text me to check in during our stay. ##### Adam E.
