A short walk from Kyoto station, Kyoto Tower, Higashi Hongan-ji Temple and Shōseien Garden, this place is like stepping back in time to the classical Japan architecture, interiors and culture that drew me to visit. The staff were simply amazing. I stayed in a premium room, which was spacious and had an ensuite 2 piece bathroom. A traditional Japanes breakfast was served in my room. It was delicious and a great way to start each day in Kyoto. This inn has a rich 187 year history, it's impeccably maintained, with an excellent staff. Every day when we returned from our adventures our traditional room was crisp and tidy with a new flower arrangement, and hot water for tea and coffee. We had a traditional kaiseki-style dinner with the owner/chef, which was fantastic!! After dinner the owner gave us a light talk about the inn and answered questions. Lastly, the staff- the front desk and the manager of the inn were top rate! They helped us endlessly from more amentities, to luggage, to ramen recommendations. All of the rest of the staff was very kind and respectful too.
