I loved staying in a traditional Japanese inn and enjoyed the afternoon teas and incredible multi-course breakfasts. Yoko, our host, was so helpful and pleasant. She speaks very good English. She gave us great tips when we planned our daily activities and was fun to talk with a share our adventures at the end of each day. The room and communal spaces were beautiful and peaceful and we slept really well on the futons. The bathroom had everything we needed and I liked how there were 3 separate rooms - one for the toilet with small sink, a room with a larger sink area and a separate room for the shower and tub. There was also a separate rome to store our luggage and hang our clothes so that the sleeping room remained tidy and uncluttered. The location was excellent - close to buses and subway and also walkable to many places. Yoko, the landlady, is wonderful and made us feel super welcome. The inn is absolutely gorgeous, with an exquisite design. The bedding is super comfortable and we slept very well. Breakfast was excellent, as beautiful as delicious. Upstairs room / bathroom is VERY spacious. As is typical with buildings 100+ years old, sound travels but it wasn't really an issue for us since we were the only guests (the ryokan has 2 rooms). She also lent us her own bicycle on the day of check out so that we could spend the day out and about so that the other bicycles would be available for the guests checking in later that day.
