Having spent the whole trip so far staying in big hotels, this was an absolute breath of fresh air. The setting next to the river is beautiful, and is still a 5 minute walk to the train station. The property itself is beautiful throughout and very well appointed. This was perfect for our family of 4\. The place is excellent. You can hear sound from downstairs to upstairs but that’s okay. Bed is comfortable, kitchen has all the items needed. Washer and dryer was very useful. We had plenty of towels. Looking forward to staying here again. Location was a perfectly close to train and shopping with a grocery and market on the otherwise of block. Drinking coffee overlooking the canal is very peaceful. The location just 5 mins walk from the main part of Gion is perfect, and its position on the side of the river with the view of the big traditional gates from the window is amazing. There are so many dining options nearby, and it’s only a 5 min walk to the metro, so easy to get everywhere. The apartment itself is stunning, Japanese style but very modern and well looked after. It was perfect for 2 couples, with the western style bedroom upstairs, and Japanese futon style bedroom downstairs. We used the kitchen every morning, and the living room was a great place to relax in the afternoon - especially on the air conditioning! Note that there’s only one bathroom and toilet though. Our host, Ryosuke, was so lovely and took lots of time to tell us about the apartment and local area, then he emailed us with restaurant and tourist suggestions.
