We had our bags transfered to the hotel no problem, and they helped us transfer to our next stay as well (via Yamoto Transport which was a great and inexpensive service). The Hotel Legasta was perfect for our stay in Kyoto. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. Although the hotel has a nice contemporary design, the hotel has under 20 rooms and fits well into the traditional neighbourhood, which was a pleasure to walk around and explore. If you have time, we recommend the audio tour promoted by the hotel called The Unknown Stories of Kyoto’s Backstreets. The three rooms making up the bathroom are even more high tech than in other hotels we have stayed in in Japan, but the room guide has translations of the various control panels. We took advantage of the lounge area to eat a takeout meal and to play cards. In the lobby was a coin laundry and plenty of tourist information pamphlets for nearby sites, and Kyoto in general. Location is good; Higashiyama subway station, and several restaurants, and a shopping street within 5 minutes walking distance. Many attractions are within 20 minutes walk.
