No words to explain!! The staffs, management, property, food, cleaness etc each and every thing was excellent!! If you are looking for a place to stay in Kozhikode, Kerala, India then this is the place I would recommend, it is worth the money!!

Adequate stay
Reasonable , average stay. Rooms were fairly comfortable. It was a bit strange seeing guests bringing their pets (loudly barking dogs) into hotel rooms - not sure why that was allowed. Food was reasonable. We had trouble with the TV and they misunderstood the issue and we had to ultimately figure it out ourselves. Somewhere between a 3-4 star experience.

Great stay but bedrooms need refreshing.
Have stayed at the Gateway for several years now. It’s very comfortable with excellent swimming pool and amazing buffet breakfast. Staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. The hotel itself has changed little over the years and is in need of an upgrade to compete with new hotel in the market

Gateway hotel at Calicut is part of the Taj group and it reflects in the excellent customer service . Right from arranging early check in to the checkout everything is smooth and dealt with a smile . The staff are the biggest asset of this hotel and they go beyond the usual to help out and satisfy customers. The breakfast spread is awesome and again the staff are very attentive to your needs . Special mention to Shinoy in the restaurant for his excellent attitude. The housekeeping staff were amazing as well . The hotel is very clean and the swimming pool is well maintained. Overall a very good experience

Stay was good but the check in process took long time!! Usually We don’t expect this from Taj but the front office personals need a good training. Same I felt in Trivandrum Vivanta last week.

Fantastic service
Excellent hotel, service and food. We had breakfast and dinner. The swimming pool and facilities are excellent. This is the only TAJ with Ayurvedic treatment centre where we did a Ayurvedic massage. Overall I highly recommend this hotel

Lovely Taj experience.
We’ve stayed at the Gateway many times, every year for the past four years. It’s located in a quiet area with some new coffee shops and eateries nearby. Buffet breakfast is great. The service is impeccable, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The large pool is fabulous. It’s has an old world charm and guests are made to feel valued. A special mention for Tijo duty manager. We shall be back

Hotel old and showing its age, but great service!
The hotel is old, and the rooms are now showing the age. Checked in late – the next morning spent a couple of hours getting the room fixed. Broken hand faucet, Fridge not working, tea coffee maker not working etc etc. On the positive side, housekeeping was very responsive and kept fixing everything once I pointed out to them. I really hope the hotel management fixes the hotel because at heart this is a good hotel.

It's a nice old world Taj kind of property. You can be sure of the service and standards, but it is slightly old fashioned and small town feeling. Which is kind of nice. Reminds me of trips I took with my family 20 years ago!

Had wonder service as well as not so great. Had a special request from Rome service, and managers were absolutely the best in helping me. Service in restaurant and bar was very hit or miss. Of 3 morning breakfasts, twice my order was forgotten as well as such slow service. Room is ok, but like in the public areas, the fabric seated chairs were dirt stained, looks like they have never been cleaned. But I have found this true of other Gateways, is it policy not to shampoo the dirty furniture? Will I return ? Probably not, when JW and others of better caliber can be had for same or lesser price

Best bet in Calicut
It was an absolutely wonderful stay. It has a resort kind of feel and the Taj hospitality is always one of the best. I cant find a single negative point to mention here.

An old stinking hotel withever descending name..
Let us start with check in, we were delayed to get in to our vasco da gama suite by on end half an our. That is 3.30pm.we waited from 2.45 in the lobby ,luckily and generously they showed us the rest roomin thefoir for temporary relief..as we planned to enjoy the local cuisine we did not dare to try the food from taj. We had to face a few hooligans from the bar blocking our entry at the gates of gateway taj Calicut which is a narrow one so that ,at a time one vehicle can pass..and they were letting exit it through the same entry gate even though there was an exit gate which is permanently closed .reported the abuse and threatening experienced to the administrator /manager ,received with lesser enthusiasm.. We fled early in the morning feeling disappointed.

In for a wedding
Our stay was delightful. Because we were there for a wedding, we unfortunately did not make use of all their many services. The pool was clean and very pleasant. The food was very varied and delicious. The service was excellent. They served us some very special entrees unique to the region. So Wonderful! The bed was very comfortable. We used the cleaning service and were very pleased with their efforts and timing. The front desk was very warm and professional. Their attention to details was exceptional. Their helpful tips made our beach and shopping times effortless. Security was professional and very kind. We highly recommend this hotel. Lovely setting, clean and comfortable room, delicious food, many services, and especially for the kind, thoughtful and professional staff. We look forward to another stay.

This is simply the best option in Calicut. Its location is central, it has options for dining around the area, a market, its food is good and reasonably priced. The property is old and needs renovation but is overall good service.

Stay at the Taj Gateway in Calicut
In Calicut within city limits, the Gateway is undoubtedly the best and only 5 star hotel in the city centre. The hotel is a bit run down but makes up with their excellent service and staff. Surprisingly the food was excellent as compared to my last stay when it was disappointing.

Hotel with human touch
People were courteous. Even though my deal didn't have complimentary breakfast they provided complimentary breakfast. These little gestures make the big difference between the hotels and juts the buildings and locations!
