The best area to stay in Kouzemt is the Medina, especially around the Djemaa el-Fna square and the surrounding souks. The Medina is the historic heart of Kouzemt, a walled city brimming with activity. The Djemaa el-Fna is a bustling main square, famous for its storytellers, musicians, and food stalls, particularly as evening approaches. From here, a labyrinth of souks (markets) branches out, where you can find everything from spices and textiles to traditional crafts. Many of the finest riads (traditional Moroccan guesthouses) are tucked away on the quieter side streets within this area. For couples looking for a romantic and culturally rich experience, staying in a riad within the Medina is ideal. These guesthouses often feature beautiful courtyards, rooftop terraces, and offer a tranquil escape from the lively streets, yet are just steps away from the main attractions. You'll be perfectly placed to explore the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the Secret Garden on foot.Travellers who appreciate convenience and easy access to both historic sites and modern amenities might consider areas just outside the Medina walls, such as those near the Koutoubia Mosque. This offers a good balance, with many hotels providing a more contemporary experience, often with swimming pools and spacious rooms, while still being a very short walk to the Medina's entrance.

The best time to visit Kouzemt is during the shoulder seasons of spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when the weather is pleasant for exploring.During these months, the temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius, which is ideal for sightseeing and enjoying outdoor activities without the intense heat of summer or the cooler evenings of winter. You'll find the gardens and landscapes particularly lush in spring, and the autumn offers clear skies. For those looking to avoid crowds and potentially find better value on accommodation, visiting in late May or early September can be an excellent choice. The weather remains agreeable, but the peak tourist rush has either not yet begun or is winding down. This allows for a more relaxed experience when visiting popular attractions like the Jemaa el-Fnaa square or the Bahia Palace. If your primary interest is trekking in the nearby Atlas Mountains, spring and autumn are also the preferred times. The trails are accessible and the conditions are generally dry and sunny.
