Love the place
I have lived 24 years of my professional life all through 5 to 7 star hotels through out the world some for quite long stays running to months and some weeks. But, when it comes to India I purely shift the blame to the government having discouraging attitudes to the poor infrastructure development, poor standards, and highly overtaxed sector where in the Hotel is considered a luxury, the property owners have hardly money left behind after tax for the proper development of the property. India should wake up and think of promoting staycations lower taxes and increase volume of consumption from its own population and allow the property owners to re-invest into property. 30yrs I have seen government only milking the business seldom facilitating anything in this industry ! Having said, all that and the present COVID conditions, zeal for survival and to continue the business, gets all my respect. All services were exceptional, polite, quick and the rooms and linens were clean. Almost all staff were very polite and well behaved and had masks on during these times. Above all great view from the room of the sea. My room had few kinks but, it might have just happened my bad luck (the maintenance just need to be a little more observant)

A nice quality hotel right next to Kollam beach.
A nice quality hotel right next to Kollam beach. I had a room,on the 7th floor with a diagonal,view,of the beach. The room itself was well equipped and in good condition and clean. The bathroom was also well stocked with toiletries. The bed was a decent size and was very comfortable to me. The AC and WiFi both worked well. There is a restaurant on site, that had a buffet in the evening and a la carts breakfasts.

Very close to the beach. Beach gets very busy in the evenings. There is a garbage dump in front of the hotel. The locals set fire to the garbage on weekends and the hotel can fill with smoke if the wind blows towards the hotel.

We are staying here yearly and this year it was not so good.we still coming back because we found it was the only decent hotel around the quillon beach. Condition is detoriating.some part of bathtub chip off,sofa n curtain looked so old.think need make over.shower curtain so yellowish.as we came out from the lift at the 5th fl,the corridor was totally black,my son almost cried,so scarry.they tried to save energy..please..this is hotel.it was not to our satisfaction but i can say it was ok just to sleep.

Quilon Beach
Situation of hotel was excellent, overlooking the beach. Public areas like lobby, dining room and bar were well kept and up to date, but corridors and bedrooms rather tired and grubby. Staff were very pleasant but many of them totally inefficient. The girl who cleaned our room omitted to replace at least one thing every day....e.g. hand towels(twice), toilet rolls, soap, shampoo, minibar items. Dining room staff very pleasant but many of them untrained although dining room manager was great. Food was good, however, and varied. Reception staff unable...or unwilling....to check us out the night before our 3am departure, even wishing to check minibar at midnight when we were getting up at 2am and needed some sleep. Their command of English wasn't impressive! We were charged for 2 minibar items we didn't even have..... they hadn't been replaced. Swimming pool in need of a make over although it was clean. Draining boards around it hid a mass of gunge and there was only room for 5 loungers on the inadequate deck. The hotel obviously does well with conventions, weddings etc, but the hotel guests are forgotten about.

House keeping is poor.
Occupied 2 rooms. No towels were in the bathroom and it took 4 calls and 2.5 hours to get it after check in. Shover area and change room near Swimming Pool is in terrible condition.

Great comfort and eats on the beach
We were welcomed and offered an upgraded room. Great service in hotel. Could learn more about local tourist activities, but we did this on our own. Restaurant was simply outstanding.

million dollar views
This hotel is my home away from home when I visit Quilon. It has the most incredible views of one of the worlds most historic beaches: Kollam Beach, a place where Venetians, Portuguese and Dutch came from the 12th century onwards. So-the pleasant facilities are outweighed by the extraordinary views from the hotel's wonderful windows. The hotel is comfortable. I noticed the pool is well used. Staff very sweet. But I come and stay here for the views all day and night long. The dawn and sunsets. This beach is one of the most spectacular stretches of sand in the world, but it is not swimmable. And is a working beach. Still, a breathtaking place.

It was a pleasant stay at the hotel..though the hotel pool was under renovation, the staff made alternate arrangements for us.The food was not up to the mark..The staff made it up by being courteous and addressed all our requirements

Good looking hotel within a two minute walk to beach and kids fun park. No safe in room. Wifi very slow and only available in lobby and ground floor dining area. On arrival ( sept.2014) carpet on seventh floor, where we we given room,was in process of being changed and took two days to complete. Ongoing deep cleaning of marble floor in lobby and approach to dining area.

Overall OK hotel, but I will not stay there again due to the "rip-off" attitude of the hotel regarding transfers to the railway station. The website stated "complimentary" transfer from railway station. Upon arrival the hotel levied a charge of 500 rupees. The railway station is only about 3km away and an auto-rickshaw charges 40 rupees. A fair charge would have been acceptable but they levied a ridiculous charge

This place is awesome!!!
When you are in this hotel, you feel like you are in a different world outside of Kollam because there is just nothing quite like the high standard and service of any amenity in Kollam like the beach hotel. Some hotel staff don't speak fluent english so you just have to be a little patient. The rooms, the views of this hotel put some hotels the world over to shame - also because of the ridiculosly cheap price (compared to $AUD). The hotel itself takes on different names with locals which is good to know if travelling by Rickshaw or Taxi to let them know where you want to go. The various names it goes by is "Orchid Hotel", "Beach Hotel" or "Kollam Hotel". The food is FANTASTIC!!! 5 star dining. The only downside I found was that when the vacancy rate drops, they tend to not turn on the boiler for hot showers so you sometimes have to call the front desk to ask them to turn the hot water on about 15 mins before you have a shower. The hotel has it's own generator during power outages which is good, sometimes you may notice the power gets cut for a couple of seconds before the generator kicks in. I'm definitely coming back here next time I'm in Kollam!!! Highly recommended to all travellers!!!

The Quilon Beach Hotel and Convention Center
My husband and I had a most satisfying stay at this beachside hotel. We were there from 14/3 - 17/3/12. We had a good view of the beach from our room on the 7th floor. The room and toilet were very clean and service was exceptional. All staff at the reception and the service personnel at the Black Gold Cafe were friendly, efficient and greeted us each time they saw us. The cafe offered a good selection of items for breakfast and a good spread of local and western dishes for their dinner buffet which left us very pleased. There was also a 24hr cafe and another restaurant which served authentic Keralan dishes which unfortunately we never got to try this time around. What impressed us even more was the speed in which action was taken by our Guest Relations Exec to rectify some minor matters which we raised soon after we checked-in. We would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hassle free stay with good food, clean rooms and warm and friendly staff. We hope to be back with our children in the near future.

SERVICE The staff were extremely courteous to my girlfriend and I. They went out of their way to assist us with our questions about the surrounding area and with our plans outside of our stay at the hotel. I would rate the service very highly. THE HOTEL We expected an immaculate hotel. Whilst our room was very nice and well maintained we found the public areas of the hotel less welcoming and relaxing. The Ayurvedic Centre was particularly disappointing; after a quick look there was no way we'd have treatments there. And the bar that we expected was not even open for business. LOCATION The hotel has a decent location for Kollam. It's a short walk to the 'centre' on the city. And it is located right on the beachfront. For any Western travellers, however, this is not a beach where a female can feel relaxed as there are a great deal of local men providing unwanted attention. OVERALL If you're looking for an immaculate hotel, where you can relax on the beach and wine and dine the evening away this is not it. For those looking for a relatively comfortable base to explore Kollam (2 days max) then the Beach Orchid would be a decent choice.

Som europer i Indien har vi fået ekstremt god behandling. med smil, høflighed og serviceminded personale. Man får meget for pengene på denne hotel, såsom parkerings vagter åbner dør i bilen tager din bagage og lade dig ordne det praktiske med receptionen. Meget god oplevelse i for pengene i forhold til europeiske hoteller. Dog skal man huske på at give drikke penge til alle for deres arbejde, det er indisk kultur.

The Geographical reason is that the Kollam Beach is the natural port beach. Steep slope of seabed and effects of breakwater on the beach. The uneven beach terrain is 3m deep closer to shore and goes 60-80m in 30m distance. This makes the sea unpredictable which makes normal waves indistinguishable from backwash. une piscine non praticable d'une eau verte non filtrée, le bord du bassin était également impraticable car couvert de fientes de corbeaux qui partagent cet espace avec les clients sans que le personnel de l'hôtel n'intervienne du personnel ne pratiquant pas assez l'anglais ce qui rend les demandes du client difficiles à comprendre et nécessite beaucoup de répétitions.

Das Hotel liegt in Kollam und ist in absolut keiner touristischen Infrastruktur gelegen. Kollam ist eine grosse Stadt die aber relativ wenig bietet. Daher nicht interessant. Der Pool hat keinen 4 Sterne Standard und rings um die Pool sieht man unmittelbar alle Hotel Müll Berge .. Fazit: Wenn es irgendwie geht dann tunlichst den Ort Kollam und das Hotel vermeiden ..

Nous n'avons malheuresement passé qu'une nuit au beach orchid de Kollam ar notre séjour nous appelait ailleurs. Nous avons cepedant pu apprécier les nombreux avantages de cet hotel: -> en ouvrant la fenètre de notre chambre, nous avions une vue sur la mer et la plage! -> la chambre était spacieuse et propre, ainsi que la salle de bain. -> le personnel de l'hotel et du restaurant est très à l'écoute et très agréable -> le buffet servi est varié (attention tout de même pour el petit déjeuner, il est recommandé d'aimer la nourriture indienne!!) Trè bonne expérience, à renouveller
