We are in Kodiak, on average, once every few months. We have stayed with this host on two other occasions at a different property (Luxurious Accommodations With Spectacular Ocean Views). On our last stay at that property we were awoken at 1:30 AM on a Monday morning to what seemed to be a domestic dispute in the homeowners level above us. After 30 minutes of what sounded like furniture crashing, screaming about explicit sexual acts, and a dog barking, we decided to never stay there again.
It was only after requesting to book this "Clean, Quiet And Professionally Decorated" property that I realized that it was the same host as the property I just described above. We decided to give the location a try considering that host lives at different property. I use rental platforms A LOT, and a good host sends a message before the stay with check in details. This host did nothing of that sort. There were no details on the page about check in. We arrived at the address listed only to find a duplex with no indication of which side was which. (Here is where a message with check in details would have helped.) Which side are we staying in? What is the code to the door? I called to inquire the details of the check in and Jennifer, the host, was very rude. She asked me which side we rented. I had no idea which side we rented. There was not an address when we booked. The address we received on the app was a street address. After Jennifer rudely informed me that I needed to know which apartment I rented, I looked at the street address again and noticed a tiny little a next to the address. Is this the apartment number? Regardless of the fact that that street address had a little a or b next to it we still had no door code and we had no idea which side was which. This was very frustrating. Jennifer then informed us that there would be someone by at some time during our stay to fix the thermostat. I asked her to just let us know when that would be and she rudely replied "Well, if he cant get in then you will just bake in there." What a terrible check in experience. In summary:
1. Check in was a disaster. Host was rude.
2. Nearly 80 degrees in apartment with all of the windows open. Could not sleep in the heat downstairs. No one ever came to fix this.
3.Terribly squeaky bed in Master and could not sleep. Next night tried to sleep on futon in Master. Futon only had 3 legs and was propped up on the floor board trim. Had to sleep on futon in living room.
Unacceptable.
