Arrived for a 3 night long weekend, to be greeted by surly Reception Staff. The Reception is the first point of contact and it is so important they are well motivated, cheerful and welcoming. Sadly at the Schloss our experience is they are not, which is a pity as the Staff elsewhere are excellent, the rooms wonderful, food excellent and the roof top pool and spa exceptional. With heavy bags we were despatched, without any assistance, to a distant part of the hotel. Why, when every other aspect of the hotel is so excellent, is there no one to show you to your room or help with bags? On check out, the poor girl on Reception was alone, faced with a queue of over 10 people needing assistance, and a phone that kept ringing, unanswered of course, through no fault of hers, as she was just overwhelmed. More resources are needed in this area, to make this a first class hotel.
