With new restrictions and safety precautions in place, travel looks a little different nowadays. These are some helpful things to know before you pack your suitcase for Kirr:

• Before you lock in a flight, see if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your destination and origin. Stay informed with the latest updates by reviewing government and airport websites.
• When you pass through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be asked to briefly lower it for ID purposes. Travelers who refuse to wear a face mask may be fined and denied boarding.
• Do not hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, position the pass on the scanner and then hold it up so the agent can inspect it.
• You're allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on luggage. This will need to be taken out for X-ray screening.
• To minimize handling during screening, put items such as your wallet, phone and belt into your carry-on rather than the bins.
• Transport all food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA officer will need to touch and open your bag for inspection.
