We stayed at Hotel Laki for one night while on a 2-week drive of the Ring Road and my only regret was not staying longer. The property is family-run, modern, clean and very comfortable. The beds and pillows were great. The staff is friendly and welcoming and if you are lucky, you can play catch with the family dog who is quite fond of bringing you rocks to play catch with. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed the walk down to the lake where we saw a variety of birds. Breakfast was very good with plenty of options. Heading back to Iceland later this summer and will definitely stay here agin.

Hotel Laki is in a great place - there are so many natural wonders everywhere you look! Call up a Google map and click attractions and you'll be busy for hours with canyons, waterfalls, etc! It's amazing. The hotel itself is nice except for the old and dingy carpet in the commons areas. If they could update that, I would give it 5 stars. The breakfast was great, and the staff were friendly. We had a fun time in the hotel bar, with a beautiful view. There aren't many restaurants around; we found one, but the hotel also offers a dinner buffet that seemed popular.
My girlfriend and I arrived around 20:00, we were glad to see they still were serving dinner till 21:00. We weren't thrilled about the idea of a buffet but we were tired and needed to eat. We wound up being extremely surprised and impressed with the variety and quality of the food. Especially her since she is a vegetarian. This was our 4th out of 7 days in Iceland and it was by far the best food we have eaten. Compliments to the Chef, between dinner and the complimentary breakfast. In a fairly remote area we were not expecting this level of cuisine. The grounds were beautiful, clean and everything that was needed was provided. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful like the rest of the Country and people we've encountered thus far. Would definently reccomend this Hotel to anyone wanting to explore the south and eastern part of Iceland.
