"Welcoming staff - helpful and cheerful.
Decent food and good choices too.
Comfy beds and nice and clean.
Would definitely use again if needed Kings Lynn accommodation."
"This is a wonderful example of historic English buildings that have been updated for modern stays without losing their architectural quirks and historical oddities. Not ideal for people with limited mobility, but we enjoyed ducking under low lintels and walking over uneven floors, some of which have been around for several centuries. Our room was clean and well-provided, and though there was a leak in the clean-water part of our toilet the owner told us that the required part was on order and it was never a huge issue.
We stayed two nights. The first morning there were a couple of young lads manning the breakfast kitchen, and they were efficient if a little absent. Sitting at the mouth of the giant fireplace in the back room was lovely, and definitely inspired us to come back that evening for the sticky toffee pudding written up on the menu board above the mantlepiece. We didn't eat supper there, we had plans with local family, but the pudding was excellent. Sounds of the Bingo game floated up to us as we went to bed - but this was our first day from Central Time (US) and we went early.
The second morning the owner was on breakfast duty. It was a Wednesday and not particularly busy, so he came over and chatted with us and even played with our four-month-old so that Mama could eat without holding him. The full English was really good both days, too.
Go Travelodge for a pad to land on; come to the Ostrich for a leisurely taste of English heritage."
"This was an unexpected find...and I shall be back! What a thoroughly enjoyable evening and stay over! I was working in King's Lynn and looked for somewhere central to stay. This popped up and showed a great value room for my night!
I arrived late afternoon to a warm welcome...had to ignore the bar as I had some work to do, and so was taken up to the room...or should I say rooms! I had a beautiful suite overlooking the Market Place and the Minster! What a treat.
There was a large open plan Kitchen/diner/lounge with a load of antique furniture [fitting to the style] and a modern kitchen area [fridge/oven/dishwasher/kettle etc and all the necessary equipment]. Down the corridor was a spacious shower room, and then in the middle was a large double bedroom with a roll top bath - just amazing value for the money.
After completing my work I toddled down to the bar for a []few] pint[s] of well kept Directors - a pint I had not had for many years. I ordered the ribs which were excellent - although there were at least 8 other things I might have chosen - including the chop of the day! Also if you are Gluten Free - there is a huge choice!
Had an excellent night's sleep, and departed early!
As I say - I will be back!"
"We upgraded for a spa suite and were not disappointed! It included a lovely sitting area, big bathroom with shower & bath and a very comfortable bed. As well as straight access into the spa area.
The lady on reception was very helpful when we checked in.
The room was modern, clean and really spacious. There is also a mini fridge and bits for tea, coffee & hot chocolate and bonus cookies which were a lovely extra.
The spa was very busy when we stayed but we still managed to try all the areas we wanted to and found places to relax.
Must add that the breakfast and Piefeast were really good, very tasty food and a great range to try."
"Hotel ok, some parts need maintenance, breakfast not special, room was ok, bed comfy, good shower, receptionists very helpful, but hotel in good position for local amenities."
"The staff were very friendly and helpful, the Full English Breakfast was lovely. Our room was clean with full size bath towels, hand towels, kettle, tea, coffee, sugar, milk and water (still & sprinkling). Mattress was a little hard but comfortable. The only down side was the room was really hot (35 outside) and it only had a tower fan so the first night was a bit uncomfortable temperature wise apart from that i will 100% recommend this hotel to stay. I can’t wait to stay there again"
