This second floor, remodeled oceanfront condo at the Kihei Surfside Resort is located in the center of the building on the sought after ocean side of the elevator. It has a great ocean view from the kitchen, living room, dining area and lanai. It is a one bedroom, one bath unit (504 sq ft). It has been remodeled and refurnished, and is lovely in every way! The entire unit has porcelain flooring. All the maple cabinetry is consistent throughout the unit, and vanities are topped with beautiful, green colored granite. The kitchen is fantastic! It is fully equipped with black appliances, including a fridge/freezer, flat top stove , quiet dishwasher (many of the one bedroom units at the Surfside still do not have a dishwasher), multi function microwave oven, garbage disposer and a variety of small appliances including coffee maker, coffee grinder, toaster and blender. There is also a large selection of higher end cookware, baking pans, BBQ tools and ample matching dishes, glasses and cutlery. The living room has a high quality queen size sofa-bed and a a large 42" flat screen LCD HD color TV, DVD player, and a multi speed ceiling fan. The dining area has a round rattan glass table with 4 matching tropical pattern armchairs. The private lanai has a bistro table with two rattan chairs - a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or a romantic oceanfront dinner! Turtles and dolphins can be seen year round, whales in season. The entry hall is tiled, with an additional dresser. The bedroom has a King size bed, multi speed ceiling fan, Hawaiian style rattan furniture, plantation shutters, clothes closet, digital security safe and a wall mounted 32" flat screen LCD TV for DVD's only (no cable).The bathroom has a full size, walk in shower with an adjustable spray shower head. There is a beautiful vanity with granite counter top. This condo is fully equipped with fresh linens and towels, hair dryer, iron/ironing board. All units have beach towels and a cooler. Umbrellas and snorkel gear are not supplied, but are often left behind in the units by other guests – no guarantees. The Kihei Surfside office loans out beach chairs free of charge during regular business hours - Monday to Saturday. Office is closed Sundays and Holidays. The unit has free, wireless high speed internet and free long distance calling to the United States and Canada. It is also equipped with a state of the art Oracode door lock, whereby each guest is issued a unique code which controls the door only during their stay. No keys! This unit is an excellent choice for guests who are looking for nice, oceanfront accommodation with a spectacular location and unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean and the West Maui mountains. Kihei Surfside Resort is located at 2936 S. Kihei Road, South Kihei at the entrance of beautiful Wailea. This is the desert part of Maui, where the sun shines more than any other part of the island. The Kihei Surfside Resort consists of an absolute oceanfront concrete building of 6 floors and 84 deluxe units with an elevator. There is free parking on site. The resort is a twenty-five minute drive from the Kahului Airport (OGG). Rental cars are available at the airport or in Kihei town. There are also taxis available at the airport (about $50), a shuttle bus and public transportation. Virtually all of the properties and resorts in Kihei are either located right on busy S. Kihei Rd., or if they are set back from the road - are across from the street from the ocean. One unique feature of the Kihei Surfside is that it is located at the quiet end of S. Kihei Road, AND is set back 300 feet from S. Kihei Road AND is located right on the ocean! Because it is hard to see from the road, many first time Surfside guests say that even though they have visited Kihei many times, they had never seen the resort! Another unique feature of the property is that we have a 2 acre, immaculately kept oceanfront lawn area with dozens of loungers, with a heated swimming pool and deluxe barbeque facilities. In season, there are daily whale sightings from both the grounds and lanais. In fact, the Pacific Whale Foundation conducts their annual whale count from our property. The building is located at the north end of Keawakapu Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on Maui(voted Maui's most romantic), where you can walk for miles past some of the most expensive oceanfront homes on the island and the luxurious hotels of Wailea. Right next to the boat launch from Kihei, amazing new pool that my 8 year old really enjoyed. Great communication. Kitchen had everything we needed to use the grills to make family dinners. Great grass lawn overlooking the beach, plenty of lounge chairs to watch the sunsets. Turtles sleep on the shore just to the north of this property. Perfect beach just a 2 minutes walk down a trail to the south. Would definitely stay again. Only issue was a mattress cover for the fold out bed and they delivered a new one promptly. Friendly front office that was helpful with parking permit, codes for the building, and beach chairs. A lovely place. Host was great with communication. We want to put out there this unit has no a/c. Most of the units in the building have a/c but not this one. The only time of day this is hard is mid afternoon to sunset. The room gets really hot and found we had to be out of the room during that time. By night time the room cools off nicely with those lovely trade winds. The ocean view and park like setting made for a very relaxing stay. The condo is very nice…. Kitchen has everything you need including a spice rack. The bed is comfortable. The standing fan in addition to the ceiling fan in the bedroom kept it plenty cool for us. The complex is is well kept as a lot of the units are the owners homes. Also the location of the unit has the best views. The unit has been remodeled and they have not spared any expense in stocking all the necessities. It should be noted that all units at Kihei Surfside do NOT have air conditioning but most winter months you will not need it due to tropical winds. It was pretty secluded which made the stay more peaceful. Condo was clean and well furnished/decorated. I took away two stars only because there was no AC and it was miserably hot at times. They appeared to be installing AC units though. Also, the toilet kept running every couple minutes which made it difficult to sleep. Lastly, the bed was incredible hard and uncomfortable. I have always been disappointed that every condo appears similar wrt decor, inability to use disposal, need for updating of bath,kitchen,etc. 207 was felt like a uniquely different experience. The remodeled kitchen and bath were beautiful and luxurious, and had a personal touch. We appreciated having an assortment of condiments for cooking, well stocked kitchen cookware/utensils/and tupperware. The location was perfect for viewing the sunset, as well as the early morning view of the sea.There were beach chairs and an umbrella - someday maybe someone will leave some boogie boards too! Great location, clean place, good experience with the place, but not so much with the host. 1\. check in code was sent via email 1 hour before check-in time. It would be great if it was sent within 24 hours before check-in. 2\. After we left, the host forwarded an email with a picture of a dirty window at the condo with the subject line “sunblock spray party” and a single line saying “comments?” In the email body. We did not use sunblock spray or had any idea where it came from, but in either case this email did not feel appropriate given the generous cleaning fee that was charged. ##### Sophia L.
