Nice old hotel in quiet location

Posted 18-Sep-2017
This is an excellent place to stay if you are a walker or skier. It is located in a quiet unspoiled valley but has a ski lift and a network of hiking trails close by. Could be used as a base for exploring the Interlaken and Jungfrau area if you don't mind driving 5 or 6 km down a windy road. Well worth it to avoid the tourist craziness in those parts.

Nice hotel with mountain views

Posted 20-Sep-2016
Cons: The spelling of the hotel. It's either Baren or Baeren but not both and it's located in Kiental, not Reichenbach.
Finding the hotel proved to be a bit of a hassle because on the building it says Hotel Baren but our booking from Expedia said Hotel Baeren located in Reichenbach. Also it's located in Kiental which is on the mountainside and not Reichenbach which is down in the valley. We arrived in the area by car at about 4:30pm after driving from Augsburg, Germany and drove by the hotel the first time until we realized we were lost. On the way back we stopped at the Hotel Baren and when we showed them the print out from Expedia they said the Hotel Baeren was down in the valley in Reichenbach. However, when we found the Hotel Baeren they didn't have our reservation and called the Hotel Baren who had our reservation so we had to drive back up the mountain to Kiental. As we had to be in Interlaken for a 6:00pm tour we quickly unpacked and just made our tour in time. The room was rustic with no soap or shampoo in the bathroom but the room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the view from the balcony was breathtaking. The breakfast buffet which was included with the price of the room was good and the restaurant was open late for dinner. Having a grocery store across the street was also very convenient. If you stay at this hotel just be prepared to drive up a mountainside with a very narrow winding road. The pay back is the view of surrounding mountains and picturesque Swiss chalets with their flower boxes. It's about a 45 minute drive from Interlaken.

Good hotel to hike the Kiental Valley

Posted 23-Aug-2015 on Hotels
Charming hotel in the Swiss Alps. The young woman who checked us in and waited tables in the restaurant was very nice and very helpful - I think this is a family run establishment. This is more of a ski hotel and it shows, but it was perfectly acceptable for our needs. It is not haute couture or grand in décor but I would stay here again as a beginning to hike the Kiental valley.

Nice hotel if you have a car and Interlaken hotels in your price range are booked.

A funny smell in the rooms. Great views. No frills kind of decoration. Comparably cheap. Adequate breakfast.

Lehrlauf infolge falscher Info!!!

Posted 27-Aug-2017 on Hotels
