The home was comfortable and the location worked well for our trip. That said, the layout felt a bit quirky and wasn’t quite what we expected from the listing photos.A bigger concern was the condition of some of the furnishings. The home felt a bit worn, and several rugs and pieces of furniture were noticeably dirty and could really use a deep cleaning or replacement.We were also surprised by the security deposit policy. At booking, we were given two options: either pay a 1,500 deposit that is held and can remain tied up for up to 30 days after checkout, or pay a 40 non-refundable fee instead. As vacation rental owners ourselves, this felt a bit extreme compared to what we typically see.Lastly, the check-in/check-out instructions came across as a bit rigid and overly stern in tone. Clear directions are appreciated, but a slightly more welcoming approach would go a long way.Overall, the place was nice, but these items impacted our experience. ##### Hocking V. They sent the contract with the additional charges for travel insurance and damage fee applied. I had to request that they remove the charges as I was not agreeing to them, instead they applied a 1,000 addition charge to my credit card which will be refunded after my stay. This would be good information to have when booking through VRBO as I had already agreed to rent this property THEN found the additional charges that were being applied outside of the VRBO agreement.
