This gorgeous rental is the bottom floor of a multi-level house that's right on the mighty Kern River, which is visible (and audible) from every room except one of the bedrooms. A few friends and I stayed for my birthday weekend and found the unit clean, the towels numerous and the beds comfortable. But the best part was by far the 4-level outdoor space, which had everything you need to lounge, eat with a view, hammock, start a fire pit and fish/float in the eddies right outside. I've only ever camped on the Kern before so being in a jacuzzi with a view of the river and mountains was beyond bliss (even if you could hear the late-night parties happening downriver).
