My family (wife and two kids 5 and 8 years) and I visited the hotel on the last weekend of January. We stayed two nights and had booked one of the contemporary family rooms. The room had plenty of space, even with 4 beds (2 double and 2 single beds). The hotel is in a great location on the banks of Loch Rannoch, with a 14min walk into Kinloch Rannoch. The hotel had two of its three restaurants open for dinner, with one open for lunch. Breakfast worked well in the small restaurant and we were lucky enough to get a seat by the window, overlooking the loch. A good selection of continental breakfast, with a larger cooked to order breakfast. While there we also made us of the swimming pool, which worked great and the sauna and steam room available. Good size pool and a good depth for the kids, not too deep basically. The biggest hit was probably the climbing wall within the marina area, where you'll also find a gym and bike hire. Overall a really nice two night stay and the team were fantastic and made us feel really at home. Somewhere I would be keen to visit in the summer, taking in the water sports and back to the climbing wall

Don’t stay if your looking for a spa break!
We were so disappointed with this hotel, it ruined our holiday. We had booked 3 nights away is what was supposed to be a spa hotel. We arrived at 5.40, their children were really looking forward to a swim but we’re told the pool closed at 6. We decided to get settled in to the room and get dinner. We were told that they did not serve the children’s menu in the main dining room only in the bar. Basically saying kids are not welcome in the dining room, although it is supposed to be family friendly. I advised the receptionist our children would eat from the main menu, we were still seated in the bar. The bar was really cold and the food was disappointing. The room we were given was dirty, the bath was full of hair, shower screen covered in soap and there was thick dust and cobwebs on the walls. My daughter then found a half eaten bag of popcorn beside her bed. I phoned reception and complained, was told they could clean our room bike we had dinner but I requested a new room. The new room was nice but smelt strongly of bleach to over compensate obviously. The next morning was the biggest disappointment. We went to use the spa after breakfast, we were all really looking forward to a cozy spa and a swim. I was shocked at the conditions in the spa. I have attached photos for you to see for yourself. The changing facilities were disgusting. One communal dirty shower for the whole female changing area. The pool was freezing. The steam room was out of order and sauna filthy.

A good choice for the area
Lovely location, fine hotel, great staff - but note that there isn't a bistro as advertised, so meals are a choice between a bit posh and rather disappointing bar food, and it's a long way to find something in between.

Good value for money overall but bathroom could definitely have been cleaner. Reception staff very variable, some helpful others less so. Setting and decor of the modern rooms were the main positive things.

My wife and I had a three night stay, friendly staff, comfortable room and lovely setting. Breakfast was included in our booking but beware it is continental breakfast that is included, cooked breakfast available for additional cost at the hotel. Dining room was really nice, dining in the bar was OK different menus but we found food to be average in both so nothing special. Did not use the spa. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return.

Our room was lovely (family room "contemporary") and clean, however the toilet was not clean and smelled like a urinal. I think it just hadn't been cleaned properly, as there was a dark ring of urine in the bowl when we arrived. The rest of the hotel is nice, if a little faded around the edges, and we found the quality of the food in the Wild Brownie bar disappointing. The continental breakfast, as well, felt a little phoned in. And the pool/spa facilities, while nice, felt not very luxurious (not to mention the spa's incredibly limited availability for services). One bartender and one server were excellent, but everyone else seemed like they couldn't be more annoyed to have to serve us. I think probably the industry is overstretched and overworked and underpaid, but I did want to be honest. Not really worth 4-star prices!

Room must have been recently refurbed. Stayed in a comfort double and was very appealing, bed was comfortable and facilities bedroom were clean and tidy. We had an issue on our last night stay where we never got any sleep due to a thumping from pipes every 20 seconds. Complained to reception but was not offered a room change till 7am, which by then there was no point. Coupled with the other 2 mornings there being fire alarms. Its safe to say we never slept very well over the course of our weekend. Other aspects of the hotel were not as tidy or clean such as the toilet area in the wild brownie bar and off of reception, as well as within the liesure area changing room/ shower facilities. The food at the estate room is lovely, service was good and staff were very friendly and helpful. Although very limited for vegetarians. The food at the wild brownie bar was awful (from a vegetarian perspective). Limited choice, the pasta main dish appears nothing like it is described on the menu. Staff were friendly and very approachable. The pool is a good size. The surrounding area of the pool, sauna and steamroom were always clean. The liesure facility down at the marina was clean, useful and very reasonably priced for outdoor persuits. The hotel seemed busy with what appeared to be not enough staff on at times, leading to busy breakfast services, dinner service and queuing at reception and bar area.

Last minute break
Picturesque location. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and freshly modernised, some areas of the hotel were a little tired, for example the carpet on the very stunning old staircase and along the corridor to our room. The pool area was clean, well maintained and a very relaxing place to sit and chill. Food was good. Would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Swimming pool absolutely freezing. Wi-Fi non existent outside public areas. Restaurant staff rude and brusque. Nice location, but won't be back.

Beautiful property and location. Dramatic views over the loch, beautiful building and interiors. Only downsides were the slightly overpriced meals and the sewage system outside that smelt awful and was entirely depending on which way the wind was blowing whether you suffer or not.

Pleasant stay but nothing special.
Booked at last minute for hubby’s 50th birthday. Lovely touch of truffles with happy birthday in room. Beautiful location, room pleasant, staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the stay was let down by a few issues…. TV not working, being locked out of bathroom in our own room, some of previous guests clothes still in cupboard on arrival.

Very comfortable, great room with a view, although it was a little "over-furnished". Excellent breakfast and super dinner in the restaurant. Clean, nice service. Lovely location. Not a lot to do in Loch Rannoch or within walking distance (especially if it's a day when the cafe and shop are closed) but good walking trails (get a map from the post office). Great place to just chill out. There is a pool but we didn't get around to using it but it looked nice.

Great night away.
Amazing short notice trip, from the moment we got there to leaving. All the staff were extremely helpful. Food was of a high standard throughout. We did the fine dining experience and we both enjoyed our meal and the pricing of the meal was fair. Will definitely look at visiting again in the future and this time we will remember our swimming stuff. The village itself was too quiet nothing going on. But the hotel itself was really nice.
