Compared to other places we stayed cluttered with not quite the same and amenities. The owner was very helpful when we got stuck in snow bank during a snowstorm via messages. "Hotel Tsubakino is a bit of heaven on Earth and our stay will be fondly remembered forever. Their staff attentive, professional and friendly. In pre-arrival communication with repeated follow ups they asked about our special needs. The food exquisite with them going out of their way to make their traditional Japanese menus gluten free for my wife, not a simple task. The facility exceptionally clean, our room beautiful, and their hot-spring baths wonderful. Location great for seeing local sights such as the snow-monkey park. Simply loved our stay."

"I will be up front, this is an older property with some older sensibilities, not everything is pristine and glistening and new. What you do get however is one of the most charming bath houses, set against a backdrop of stunning mountains. It is a family run business and they will and do go the extra mile for their guests. I cannot reccomend more than if you are going to see the snow monkey park nearby that you stay here, enjoy the fantastic ambiance, a thoroughly musical breakfast and some of the best and kindest owners you could ask for. "

"They, the staff, exceeded my expectations . Courteous, helpful, kind and pleasant are words that I would use to describe them. Everyone greets you with a bow and civility, right down to the hardest workers in the hotel. For that, i will surely come back. My stay at the Prince Hotel East was worth every yen and then some. I originally was suppose to stay at the Sunvalley Hotel, in Shiga Kogen. I lost my reservation there due to payment issues. I was hesitant about coming to the Prince Hotel. It was my first time. The room i stayed in was probably one of the best i have seen for the price. The next time I am in Shiga Kogen, i am staying at the Prince Hotel East, without a doubt."

"Its more a backpacks accommodation then a Hotel. The food provided in the morning was a joke at best. A doggy bag with bread buns that you have to heat you your self. Thats it. Rooms are old and the bathroom smells like s&@$. The two young staff were helpful and speck english. The public bath was good as well. The place needs to be refurbished into the 20th century. Sorry to say that. We read some comments by other explaining that it was traditional and all that but its very old and dated. Food sucked. "

"Second time using Nozawa Dream central. Location is excellent. Staff ALWAYS go above and beyond to help. Special shout out to Cora! Extremely helpful! Staff also understand the nuances to blending the Japanese +/- western resort experience. Rooms are traditional tatami style, so just be aware after a few days of sending it, our lumbered western bodies may take a hit getting up and down from the mats. Bathrooms/showers are shared - gets very cold down there. Coffee and tea station all provided for. No breakfast during this season's visit. But that's not a deal breaker. "
