Interesting little place - quiet and comfortable private property with 2 rooms available to rent. No front desk and no apparent staff. The guest gets an access code after completing their reservation, and let's themselves in and out as scheduled.
We booked, the smaller room and found it spacious and comfortable. It seemed like it was either newly built or recently renovated - very fresh finishes. Private ensuite bath had a HUGE shower and separate water closet.
Great option for the self-reliant traveler.
Staying in Clothier Mills Inn reminded my husband and me of some of the places we have stayed in in Europe. A somewhat narrow driveway along the side of the building led to a parking lot next to a high wall covered with ivy. At the base of the lot, behind a jumble of greenery, was the river. Two floors of sliding glass doors opened out to the back, and in the morning and evening, people could be seen sitting on the balcony reading the paper or chatting. Our room looked recently renovated. It was very clean and all the amenities that we have come to value (fridge, desk, table, chairs, flat screen TV, telephone, facility for plugging in electronics, air conditioning, tissue box) were there. As this is an older building with quite reasonable rates, I was a bit nervous about the quality of the soundproofing; there was no problem. Coffee and toast was available in a small common area; a tray and mugs were provided in the room. The room and bathroom were of a comfortable size. It was a bit of a squeeze accessing the wall side of the bed, but for me it just added to the quaintness of the place. Only footsteps away, we found some pleasant restaurants and pubs, and a slightly longer walk across the river led us to a great British bakery. We felt "at home" here and really enjoyed our stay.
