We love the Wialua Bay View complex, having stayed in another unit prior. It's a great location, easy to access by car, and provides a good base to explore a bit by foot as well. The complex manager was always available for questions, is clearly around regularly, and is extremely friendly! We didn't have any needs, but I'm sure he would be there if needed.
This one bedroom unit worked well for us, a couple who spent evenings in the unit and days out exploring the island. We spent sunrise every day on the lanai, watching the weather, waves and winds, as it was rainy season. We were initially a little concerned about a ground floor unit, as in some locations that means that your view is the back of others who have moved out onto the lawn. Not the case here. We rarely saw anyone out on the lawn and only ventured out there for photos ourselves a couple of times, to respect the privacy of others. It is completely safe and we often slept with just the screen door closed in order to hear the surf (locked, although I'm not even sure it was necessary). As a "downstairs" unit, you might pick up on noise from above. We had two sets of neighbors - the first were virtually silent. But for our last two days a family with a small child apparently moved in upstairs and you could hear that clearly in the ceiling. Not something you can fix, and maybe something that others might not even mind, but just be aware that these are not soundproof.
Although not as updated as others, the kitchen and facilities were functional and well stocked. The recreation supplies were a little limited but hit the basic needs (only one substantial beach chair, snorkel gear that has seen some wear). What we didn't have was easily rented in Kapaa. The furniture and furnishings are showing their age in several areas that did matter a bit more - the couch is feeling a bit old isn't as comfortable for two as it might be. My wife loved the lounge style on the one side, but a more supportive side chair or recliner would be a nice upgrade to accommodate 2 or 3 people. We tried sleeping on the sofabed to be closer to the waves but it is not supportive. It was nice to be able to get a movie from Redbox and use the Blue Ray player and the TV was reliable and easy. Finally, there are a few minor maintenance upgrades that would be a nice touch in the future - the bathroom ventilation fan, more supportive outside furniture, etc. But overall, it's a great spot for the price!
