The property was clean. However, in my room the telephone was unplugged. So we plugged it in and there was no sound. I called the front desk and asked if someone could fix the phone in the room on Saturday morning. Needless to say, when i checked out Monday, the phone still was not working. Due to there being activities in KC, we paid an upcharge for the room. Usually the room is about $100 a bight, but we paid around $150 per night. Hence, i expected everything to be operational and was disappointed.

TLDR: Housekeeping threw out all our items before checkout! Front desk said they would make it right and then lied to Expedia saying I had refused their compensation offer! Went to get breakfast before checkout time at 11am, housekeeping came in and threw away all our belongings! Our clothes, the food in the refrigerator, steel water bottles -- all thrown away in housekeeping's trash bags! We were able to get the items back after speaking with the front desk who referred me to the housekeeping supervisor, who escorted me to the room, found the housekeeper who had cleaned the room, and got the items out of her trash cart, I asked the front desk for compensation for this ordeal. I was told because I booked on Expedia I would have to contact them to get compensation, which they would approve. Of course when I went to contact Expedia, the hotel told them the offered me a free night as compensation already (untrue -- I was offered some points for their chain but I didn't have an account, and was recommended by the front desk agent to go through Expedia and they would approve it) and was only able to get a small credit from Expedia for my inconvenience. Extremely unprofessional of housekeeping for such a violation of our belongings, and shame on the front desk for lying and saying they would make it right.

Was snowy don’t know about cleanliness around property. Bathroom in my room had hair all over the floor and didn’t appear to be cleaned well. Person at front desk was friendly and efficient. Hallways and elevator were freezing. Heat in room only worked half the time.

The restaurant is more like a kiosk stand.. they told me when i was ready to order food just call the restaurant, but no one answered the bar or the front desk, so I physically went to the front desk and they gave me a list of items they serve like bagels, and fruit cups.. no real cooks on staff.. i was highly disappointed for this begin falsely advertised

The hotel is understaffed, no cleaning unless we ask for it, ran out of toilet paper and rather than delivering it to us we were told we had to go to the front desk to get some. The place needs a refresh, it used to be very good, but there is a reason that it has low occupancy now. We also had to go back and stay several days later and since there was no staff people over the New Years weekend the trash was overflowing the trash cans. It is a relatively low priced place now, and why it has Overland Park in the name is simply asinine since it is in KCMO and Overland Park is in KS. That confuses some people. If Sonesta is not going to maintain the property then sell it to someone who will refresh and maintain the hotel. This place is losing business to the exended stay place next door that only has a 2 star rating.

we were there on New Years Eve and there were fireworks in the courtyard- apparently by guests. We had dogs who were very upset by this. When we tried to call the front desk to see if they could do something, no one answered. Also the hot breakfast was not available since apparently someone quit the day before.

The setting of the property with all the exterior landscaping was very inviting. Once inside you can definitely tell it’s an older motel but yet still nice. The rooms were clean, accessibility was great, parking lot to accommodate, and the pool was a plus. Front desk were accommodating when we asked for a few more pillows and assured us if there was anything we needed they would help out.

Location is very quiet and safe. Beds are very comfortable and the rooms were clean. Only complaint was the pool and pool room were freezing so the kids couldnt enjoy swimming.

they charged $5 for continental breakfast that turned out to be a 100 year old croissant or very small coffee cake, a packaged small fruit in a cup, and coffee without any creamer except the flavored variety. every other place I stayed during my journey offered free breakfast of freshly made eggs, sausage/bacon, fresh fruit, waffles, oatmeal/cereals, coffee/tea/juice, etc...

Very nice hotel
Good location, friendly staff. I did not like that I was charged a $100 security deposit by the hotel upon check-in. That was not indicated at the time of booking, and since I booked through Hotels.com I think I should have been advised of this picy.
