You can also visit the Byzantine Church of Virgin Mary - a must-see landmark on account of its old age and precious 11th century Byzantine frescoes - situated right under the breathtaking Meteora rocks. This is definitely one of the most precious early Christian basilicas around Greece and, even nowadays, serves as an active church for the locals. Clean and very comfortable. Two nice terraces. However, advertised as 2+ bathrooms, but had only one toilet so misleading there. Our rental car was sideswiped in the night and the owner was nice enough to let us store our luggage in the secure laundry room while we waited all day for a replacement car.
