Luxury Home with the Best Views on the Kona Coast (Big Island of Hawaii). We have a STVR (short term vacation rental) permit issued by the County of Hawaii. You'll love our large, heated pool with travertine decking around the pool for the ultimate luxury. Cooks dream kitchen with mahogany cabinets and granite counters. Picture yourself lounging around the pool with the huge blue ocean always in sight or reading on one of the many the lanai's. Imagine one gorgeous sunset after another, framed by the palm lined coastline and the lights of Kona. Enjoy them with a glass of wine surrounded by your family and friends. This is what you will find yourself doing at Kona View House. But the views are not just from the pool, they are front and center in almost every room. Our home contains Tommy Bahama-style tropical furnishings and tropical art on almost every wall. Sleeps up to 9 comfortably. 10 possible upon request (for example an infant or small child). We welcome kids, and they love to play in the extra large pool! (But should be supervised for safety and be respectful of neighbors with noise.) Your stay at Kona View House is also environmentally friendly, since we have 33 grid-tied solar panels which produce all the power we use! Upstairs is the kitchen, living room with big TV, dining room, 2 public lanai's, bedroom with king bed, lanai and en-suite bath, den/bedroom with pull out memory foam queen bed, and powder room. Downstairs are two bedrooms with 1 full bathroom in the hallway between them. Both bedrooms downstairs walk out to the lower lanais and the pool. One has a queen bed, the other has a queen and a twin bed. We are centrally located, just a 5-10 minute drive from downtown Kailua-Kona. Everything from Wal-mart and Safeway to the cute downtown shops and restaurants of Kailua-Kona can be reached in just a few minutes. You can even be snorkeling at one of the local beaches in just a few minutes. The airport is 15-20 minutes north, the mega resorts and beaches are 30 minutes north, and the Volcano is 2.5 hours south. In terms of weather, because we are on the side of a mountain, the weather varies by elevation. Down toward the water it is very hot with little breeze. You would often want air conditioning at that elevation. Up at 1200-1500 feet it's quite cool; homes have fireplaces and residents wear long pants. Most people believe 600-800 feet elevation is ideal, and our home is at 650 feet. It's warm enough to feel that you are in Hawaii, but almost never gets too warm. In the evening, cool air comes down the mountain, and you can control the temperature in the house by opening and closing the front door to allow this air in or not. (Note that up north where the resorts are, it is often quite windy, but here we only get light breezes.) We do have 7 ceiling fans and large windows for warm days. Solar pool heat is included, and if the sun is not cooperating additional heat is available for a small fee. Many of our guests report that they had all kinds of plans to visit places around the island, but they actually spent a lot of their time at the house, floating in the pool, hanging out on the lanai and watching the sunset, not wanting to leave. This is the experience we try to provide. Certainly there are many vacation rentals you can choose from, but we hope you will choose ours so we can share this magical place with you. There are places that are less expensive, but we have yet to see something comparable to ours in terms of views, amenities, luxury, and style, for less. The open-concept dining and living areas led out to a beautiful balcony with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. My husband and I traveled with my 82 year old mother and our young adult sons. The beds were comfortable. My mom took the master suite so that she did not have to go up and down the stairs and my husband and I were comfortable in the queen bed downstairs. The swimming pool was awesome and the views of the sunsets from the pool and lanais were stunning. We cooked up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen. There is a coffee grinder and every utensil you could want. The outside grill worked really well. I cooked fish purchased at the local fish market, steaks, pork tenderloin, baked cookies and made a pie. We enjoyed family movie nights (the tv has Roku and we signed into our personal accounts), showing our young men movies they had not seen before (such as Rainman and the Untouchables). Oh, and we did leave the house occasionally to check out the beaches, volcano (which was erupting) and took a whale watching boat trip. It was an amazing trip and we came back refreshed/renewed. Our party consisted of family ages 14 to 69 and everyone agreed this home was top notch. We needed a 4 bedroom home and we were so pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was in each room, couldn’t hear anyone snoring from the other bedrooms, haha! This house has everything you will need, the kitchen has it all, and we cooked there everyday. We appreciated the ability to do laundry as well. The pool was perfect and we appreciated Cindi adjusting the pool temp for us. Loved the geckos and beautiful flowers outside. The sunsets from this home are incredible! I am so glad we decided to rent a home rather than go to a hotel, this is the perfect home in the Kona area. The beds were so comfortable and bathrooms had everything you’d need as well. Cindi was great to communicate with the entire time as well. We recently stayed in Kona for the IM, and found the location of this home fantastic as if was not too far to drive into town, but far enough away for a peaceful, relaxing stay! Our family of 8 (with our 2 older children often visiting for meals) had plenty of space when we were home, many options for quiet spaces or meals, and of course we loved the pool, and watching sunset every night was just beautiful. The house is exactly as offered from the pictures, and the master bedroom (with renovated bathroom) is fantastic. We cooked many meals in the kitchen, and grilled downstairs often during our 10 day stay, and appreciated that many of the basic kitchen condiments were kept in the pantry! There was also a day home where the younger kids found the games and jigsaw cupboard, and had a great time, and the pool toys were available (to which we added a few more before we left!!) I would love to stay there again, especially during a quieter time in Kona, and would have no hesitation in recommending the property. ##### Louise G. Such a nice place. Clean, secure, well situated and immediately felt like home. The house easily allows for enough space for 4 adults and 3 children. The kitchen was big enough to accommodate the main cook and 2 assistants too. The master bedroom mattress was exceptionally comfortable and no one had any trouble sleeping. After some time we found the faster routes to and from places so we didn't have to spend as much time on the #11 (painfully slow for visitors wanting to go north to Kua, Hapuna or other beaches. We've stayed at many VRBOs and this was right up there. In fact, we spend almost every dinner at home. Maybe a few more frying or sauté pans in the kitchen? Enough dishes, enough silverware, my mother wanted to make flour tortillas, and I was skeptical if I would find a rolling pin, and I did. We made pizza, and I found pizza trays to put in the oven. Enough cleans towels, no stains, no holes in the sheets and no stains. Specific instructions on how to use the fancy appliances and instructions on how to use everything else in the house. Some highlights...the main lanai was very comfortable and a wonderful place to read a book (even on a rainy afternoon), the kitchen has been newly remodeled and we loved cooking on the induction range, the sunsets were quite stunning. We took many day trips from the home to Volcano, Mauna Kea, coffee farms, and Kohala beaches. I really love Kona overall, from the access to great snorkeling beaches, quaint nearby towns, and really amazing fruit and coffee farms. We thought the location was very good and it was a quick drive to the store for food or any forgotten items. In fact, we tried to pack light knowing we could pick up anything we needed in the main shopping area in Kona. One thing visitors should be aware of is that you do have to be relatively quiet when outside day and night. Loud voices carry in this area, which is probably the case with most Kona homes unless you go into the higher elevations where properties are sometimes larger. Overall, I would certainly recommend this home for a comfortable and relaxing vacation. ##### Tiffin G. After our last stay we were determined to try to get back to "The Kona House " as it became known in our many retellings of our time in Hawaii. We thought it was perfect last time but discovered the renovations in the kitchen had improved on perfection. The house is spacious yet homely. It is clean and comfortable. Our hardest decisions each day as we woke up happy to still be on holiday in this lovely house were, do we go out and explore the island or stay home and enjoy the house? We did a bit of both. We drove to the summit of Mauna Kea ( a must do ), drove to the Volcano National Park ( looks like Mars ), to various small beaches to snorkel and to Captain Cook for Antique shopping. Other days we stayed home and lazed by the pool with a book, sat on the Lanai and watched through binoculars, whales breaching in the ocean down below or cooked local fish and steaks on the bbq. I can not recommend this house highly enough and hope we will be returning again sometime soon. In the meantime I will daydream about our time in "The Kona House". ##### Alison M.
