This is by far one of the worst hotels in SD. I had a reservation that expedia charged me to make. I showed up and they didn't have rooms available. They only had rooms that didn't have heat when it was snowing out. I had to go to a different hotel for the weekend. I then found out they still charged me for the room and they would not refund the amount. Expedia has been completely useless and Love Hotels by OYO is scamming people out of their hard earned dollars. A square building on a dead-end dirt road. May have been nice 50 years ago? The hotel has three different names: Love Hotels Kadoka by OYO at Badlands SD, Badlands Motel (the only name on the outside of the motel), and Lakota Lodge. When I called the phone number for the location of the hotel, OYO refused to tell me where it was. The rooms were very bare and had an unpleasant odor. It may have looked like the pictures on the website 20 years ago, but not recognizable now. Had to ask at a gas station to find where it was. Lots of work done and even more needs to be done. Their parking needs to be graded and beer cans picked up, definitely a turn off. They charged an extra $100.00 security fee which is ridiculous. Rooms were very dirty and from interstate 90 the leoperty looks like its out of service. There is not even a sign on I90 foe this hotel! There was no staff present when we got there. Finally ran into the counter lady..she showed me to my room on swcond level..the wood structure buiding felt like it was gonna fall over walking up the steps. Trash everywhere. A cat followed up and at the top of steps there was cat crap all over. Saw that the lights to our room was already on. Got inside and was killing mosquitos for about an hour so my kids wouldnt gwt eatin alive. There was about 100 of them. Door was damaged..our cards didnt work. No crap my kida were crying they didnt want to stay there they were scared. Beds were rock hard. Toilet didnt work. No towels and 1 pillow in the 2 bed unit. Shows breakfast foe the morning there was nothin there. No host in morning either to take our room keys. Others left bad notes on the front counter!!Half the propertys lights did not work..the dumpster out front looked like it wasnt dumped for like a year next to junkyard vehicle's Honestly this buildind needs to be abut down and im gonna bite down and see what i can do to make it happen. NOT SAFE FOR ANY FAMILY!! Wouldnt even stay there if i got payed to it was that bad. The worst place we have ever stayed out in my entire life. There was also a microwave. Very basic bare minimum. A very old and worn place, but clean enough. There was no coffee, no ice, no channels/cable for the TV (so just a blank screen), wifi functional but not able to stream a movie or anything. It was safe, pretty much nothing around, enjoyed the view of the plains/grassland, and stray cats liked to come and sit by our door. The woman working the front desk was very kind and helped when we had problems with our booking. The property is under new management, has very few employees, and needs renovation. The OYO company themselves were extremely difficult to work with and did not adhere by their cancellation policy and charged me incorrectly. I was unable to get ahold of anyone at the company who could actually help.
