"Purbeck hotel was a last minute decision and one I was very happy to have made. I stayed in the lodge, great sized rooms. Staff were lovely and helpful, made me feel at home. Location was great for the town and the Swanage railway, the reason why I was in town. I did not have breakfast as was out early so cannot comment on that side. If I was looking for a negative point then my tv didn’t work (I wasn’t in the room much anyway) and the shower/bath could be better (showerhead needs improvement...

"Just back from a 2 night stay over the bank Holiday in superior sea view room. Views were simply outstanding. Room was large and recently refurbished with a good shower and a big bed. Lots of power sockets. Fresh clean blackout curtains. We walked down the beach to the Cabin for Pimms and snacks. Cabin is also owned by the hotel. "We booked for our 10th anniversary. Emailed a month before to say that it was our anniversary and that would be amazing if we could use our VIP hotels.com status to make that happen and also about any spa packages available. On check in it was clear that they hadn't even seen the message, which explains no response. They did send a bottle of prosecco to our room which was nice. "The Royal Beacon is a nice comfortable hotel with excellent views. The bedroom furniture was a bit dated but in reasonable condition. The bed was very great. The bathroom décor was also a bit dated, but very clean and serviceable with plenty of hot water and flutty clean towels. The staff were very pleasant. It's just a shame there's no evening dining. Having said that, there are lots of restaurants and cafes in close proximity. "
