We are located 1/8 of a mile past the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry Dock on a secluded piece of property just steps from Auke Nu Cove, a perfect place to launch your kayak adventure, and backed by Tongass National Forest where the hiking opportunities are limitless. Auke Bay is a great place to start your fishing day for halibut and salmon or if you prefer, a whale watching tour to watch feeding Humpback or Orca whales. Watch eagles soar over the cove or perched up in a tree from outside your window, deer eating new green shoots of grass in the spring, or the occasional black bear patrolling the area in the fall all from your front deck. What it doesn't say is how it feels to be in a place built from scratch by the owners. The context of this property, and the warmth and skill of the family that lives in the main house make this suite feel like more than just another VRBO. Check in was easy, checkout even easier ("Don't do anything - we'll take care of it.") In between we enjoyed a comfortable bed, a well-stocked kitchen, and an extraordinary bathtub spa (which was a bit complicated for us to figure out). But Theresa invited us to contact her for anything we needed. We also loved the location - away from the 10,000 people a day that arrived on the cruise ships downtown - 5 ships a day while we were there. ##### Steven L. The beautiful view from the sitting room window is of the forest with a glimpse of the bay. The kitchen is well equipped, the sitting room is relaxing and the bed was very comfortable. Tommy and Theresa have created a very beautiful, comfortable, meticulously clean and private “tree top” home away from home. Nearly two weeks after my stay it’s easy to close my eyes and bring back the view of the trees and the bay from the windows, the sounds of the water from the nearby stream and the peaceful contentment I felt while staying here. So quiet and secluded you’d never know a post office, restaurants, shops, the airport and other amenities are only 2-5 miles away; and it’s only 14 miles to downtown. What an idyllic setting! While the photos posted are accurate, they don’t do justice to how charming the apartment is in person. The owners are friendly and gracious hosts, respectful of their guest’s privacy but available if needed. They did a wonderful job providing a variety of thoughtful amenities and information about the area and trails. Outside of a trip to the grocery store for food every need was anticipated and provided for.
