Wonderful Getaway Little Cottage with Big Charm. Two bedroom cottage with King Bed in one and Large Twins in one. Great kitchen for eating in or dine in one of our many wonderful local eateries. One bathroom with a shower/tub combo. Washer/dryer. Very comfortable furnishings with some antiques and local art. Outdoor patio for nice mornings or evenings. Stay in the Heart of the Historic District. Steps from everything. Jefferson Tx. is the 5th oldest town in Texas. Jefferson is located right on the Big Cypress River. We are only three hours from Dallas Tx. We are one hour from Shreveport La. We are four hours from Houston Tx. Nestled in the Piney Woods of East Texas. Jefferson was founded in the early 1840's. Once a bustling River Port town, but now a perfect destination for a weekend getaway. Jefferson has something for everyone, wonderful selection of antique and eclectic shops. The dining selections are from very fancy to very funky, all yummy. Live music on the weekends at many places. Great Historic homes, some on tour and a Great Museum. Riverboat rides,Carriage Rides and Ghost Walks, call for times and dates. We are about twelve miles to Caddo Lake and about 12 miles to Lake of the Pines. Come stay for the weekend or for the week. The host left a good complementary treat basket. However, there were cob webs, spiders, and dead bugs behind most of the furniture. The floor appeared swept, but grimy and not mopped. The kitchen countertop had bits of food and dirt behind the coffee maker. The interior of every kitchen drawer and cabinet storage space were also speckled with debris. The microwave had grimy smudges on the outside and specks of food on the inside. The refrigerator had hand prints and smudges on the outside, grime and food debris on the inside, and a nonoperational ice maker/dispenser. The bathroom toilet had brown specks of presumably fecal matter on the underside of the seat and inside the bowl. The shower curtain had mold developing on it. The towel rack's lower shelves were caked with grime and dust. The bathroom air vent was stopped up with dust, lent, and debris around the bathroom light. The inside rim of the clothes washer was lined with debris and grime. Finally, the interior HVAC return vent did not appear to have a filter. After discovering the aforementioned problems with cleanliness in the daylight of day two during our stay and tiring of cleaning things ourselves, we decided to leave early rather than spend another night. ##### Anthony R. The neighborhood is quiet, also welcomed. Jefferson has a wonderful historic district worth exploration. It was a comfortable cottage to relax and unwind in. Our biggest issue was that it was not as clean as we have come to expect in other properties we have rented. Examples: while the bathroom sink and toilet bowl were clean enough, the outsides of each were not. The refrigerator was usable but needed to be thoroughly cleaned inside. When one of the twin beds was opened, there were hairs on the linen. None of these were deal breakers (the owner agreed to refund our cleaning deposit, and we addressed the issues other than the fridge. There were a few other areas of general cleanliness that to us indicate the house needs, but has not received, a deep cleaning in some time. Again, not deal breakers. ##### Thomas K.
