It was very spacious and had a good view. We found the road signs in Big Canoe very hard to follow. The roads are not marked well. There are no arrows pointing right, left or straight. These trips are so special to us, and the rental is over 50% of the experience. The cabin was so spacious and comfortable, we didn't leave for the entire weekend. Kids had enough room to run around and the adults were able to relax and enjoy each other's company without feeling cramped. When checking in, all of my guests weren't included on the names list at the front gate on our arrival day. Could have put a sour taste in our mouths after waiting for over a year to reconnect with our group. I called the property owner (in addition to a VRBO app message) and he responded instantly by adding their names to the list for entry... took 5 minutes. We need a house that will host 10-14 women. This was a great property for us - we had 10 this year. A large living room allowed us all to congregate (though we couldn't get the fireplace to work). It has a wonderful, large dining table that fits 10 comfortably (bench on one side). We appreciated the second refrigerator in the garage to hold all of our beverages. We found the kitchen to be slightly understocked in regards to serving bowls and platters (we cook) and beverage glasses (both regular and wine glasses). Cooking pots and pans and utensils were plentiful. We prefer homes that have king beds (easy to share) or lots of queen beds (prefer not to share). This house was close - with one more person, we would have had to share a queen (and we already had two women on twin beds). And we were a little short on toilet paper by the end of the weekend. Kitchen had everything we needed, as well as enough basic supplies for a couple of days for the washing machine and dishwasher, garbage bags…. as well as non-perishable condiments, such as salt and pepper…. The ONLY issue we had was with all of the TVs…. and granted, it was probably OPERATOR ERROR by all of us senior ladies who are not always tech savvy…. All of the multiple TVs used Roku format which we weren’t used to, and the general instructions were rather vague. I did speak with the management company, who sent a gentleman to the house immediately to check all of the TVs, however, we were not at the house when he arrived so we did not get to interact with him face-to-face to learn more about the operation of the TVs. I suggested providing step-by-step, precise operating instructions near each TV, and labeling each remote for each specific TV, because the remotes did get mixed up according to the repair service. The management company was extremely pleasant and helpful, and wanted to make sure that our stay was comfortable and problem free. The lady also assured me that they examine every suggestion made, and try to implement whatever measures well benefit future guests. As noted in the survey, the team was responsive, helpful, and polite. The size and layout of the house suited our needs perfectly! So much space that 12 of us were never once under each others feet. While at the same time it was NOT too much space. It couldn’t have been more perfect. The view was beautiful from the top deck. I sat out on the deck every morning and evening and in between. My favorite spot. No mosquitos or bugs. The hummingbirds visited us a few times. The bonus was a lower deck are a ls well. My brother and his family of 14 stayed in Big Canoe as well. They came over for dinner two nights. It was perfect. With 25 people, we never felt crowed. It was a perfect setting. The water was hot, the water pressure was good and everything worked. The decor was a little dated but everything was clean except for the coffee pot and there was a bit of dust on the furniture but not a problem at all. There are a lot of light switches, LOL. I wanted to label them. It also would have been nice for there to be more exit signs to the main gate exit on the way out. That’s a Big Canoe thing. Use google maps-not apple google maps. I got lost a couple of times going up and down and I have a good sense of direction. So many side streets. Overall, fantastic experience. I would rent again. ##### Donna J. We did have some issues finding the lockbox and getting the front door to lock, but none of the other reviews list this as an issue so I’m fairly certain it was user error. 😂 The important part is that when we were having issues, we were able to reach management immediately and they talked us through it. The water pressure was great, the back deck views were magnificent, and the beds were AMAZING. You can tell the owners care about the property and that guests enjoy themselves. Big Canoe is just magnificent, even in the winter when the trees are bare. The walking trails are an added definite plus. We met a few locals who were so helpful in directing us toward their favorite trails, which was so nice!
