This apartment was nothing like what was advertised. Upon arrival, the place was dirty and had a strong cigarette smell, which made it very uncomfortable to stay there. The bed linens were dirty and unusable, forcing us to go out and buy new bedding ourselves. This is completely unacceptable for a rental property. There was a total lack of proper cleaning and attention to basic hygiene. The property has stairs to access the yard and this wasn't listed in the description. If it had been, then I wouldn't have selected this property. It is not for handicapped at all. My husband uses a walker. These stairs made it difficult for him .All the inside lights were on when we arrived. At bed time we tried the wall switch for the ceiling light. It didn't work. I was told to "Pull the string" So, I had to stand ON THE BED to reach a small chain that was hanging from the ceiling light. My husband and I are both seniors. He is 90 and I in my 70's. If I hadn't been able to stand on the bed then we would have had to sleep with the light on all night. What is the cost of fixing the switch or adding more chain to be easily accessible? Is it worth chancing someone getting hurt? The neighborhood was less than desirable. Many properties were in disrepair. Needless to say, we only stayed one night. The kitchen was a little tight, and the bathroom was kind of just enough room to turn around. The bed was comfy and it was easy access for me to get to my meetings in the area.Heads up to the sensitive: this house is down the hill from the street and is damp. The owners provide a dehumidifier and two window box AC units which did a pretty good job of keeping the dampness to a bearable degree, but if you're sensitive to musty (not to say moldy) smells or constant white noise just be aware.Host was amazing! The inside of the home was not properly cleaned, and even had previous renters belongings in dresser drawer. There was so much hair, false lashes and bugs under the bed. I contacted the host and asked for a refund so I could find somewhere else to stay, due to feeling unsafe and the home not being properly cleaned. The host was extremely arrogant and rude. I also contacted vrbo and they were no help naturally. After driving 6 hours, it was extremely disappointing and frustrating. I ended up renting a hotel for the week. As someone that owns a cleaning business and a rental house, I would never talk to a renter that way, and I make sure the house is actually clean. This host is the worst I’ve ever encountered.
