This 3- bedroom cottage duplex is right on the beach. I don't mean just close to the beach. I mean that when you step down from the deck, you are on the beach. Walk barefoot to the water. THIS GORGEOUS BEACH DUPLEX IS PET-FRIENDLY - AND IN BEAUTIFUL SHAPE. You will not believe such a beautiful house allows your pet, but we find that our guests at A Breath of Fresh Aire have been very conscientious about their four legged family members. NOW MY WIFE SAYS I TALK TOO MUCH. She told me to shut up and let our guests tell the story. So here they go: 'Our family can't wait until July this year - we have stayed at Amazing Grace for the last three years - this year we will stay at Breath of Fresh Air - A wonderful ocean-front duplex - very nice and owner is a delight to deal with. Imagine shrimp on the grill (on the driveway as per Fire Marshall rules), kids on the beach, and a cold beverage in your hand as you sit on the deck above the dunes. The wide beach invites you to stay all day long. A Breath of Fresh Aire is BEACH FRONT. It is not a piano lot, or a view between two houses, or in a condominium complex. It is a real OCEANFRONT house. Sit on the beach or sit on a marvelous deck just a few feet away from the crashing waves. Do you like to bike or run? There is a bike shoulder on the main road the entire way from the north to south. The island is like 22 miles long, so you can get a good work out. You can even bike for fun (like I do). Recently I rode my bike to the south end, and the smell of Jasmin and ocean air was unbelievable. I stopped on the far south point of the island and walked around the beach on the undeveloped point. I then rode back to Topsail Beach city hall and said hi to the ladies who worked there. (They had kindly sent me an invitation to pay real estate tax in their city even though my house is not in their city. I graciously declined :-) but they were very pleasant!) I then rode back to Surf City and promptly bought an ice cream cone at DQ just to make sure I hadn't burnt off too many calories, then leisurely rode back to the beach house. Believe me, this place is fun. And I haven't even told you about Giligan's, just before the bridge on the mainland side and it's hilarious karaoke nights, or about Sears Landing and its award winning clam chowder made with sherry, or Indigo Marsh - the best restaurant overlooking the sound that you will ever find. Oh, and how about the fresh fish market (I mean right off the boat) behind the Crab Pot where you can get shrimp, flounder, shark or whatever they have been catching and take it back and grill it. Or you can play 18 holes at Coastal Carolina's only four-star golf course, North Shore Golf and Ocean Club (as per Golf Digest). Perhaps you would like to deep sea or surf fish...or maybe spend an hour with your son or daughter fishing off the sound dock just steps from your beachfront villa. At high tide you could throw a rock from the deck to the ocean with a good arm. The duplex was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. We stayed at Breath of Fresh Air the week of Christmas through NewYear. The owner was extremely helpful with questions and also gave us several suggestions on place in the area to eat. We enjoyed a relaxing stay and spent days watching the ocean from the double-decker porch as well as the comfortable living room. The home is just as advertised only steps away from the beach. We enjoyed walking the beach, finding shark teeth and seeing many dolphin. We explored and walked the three piers in the area, as well as a boardwalk in the park at Surf City. Just a few steps and you are on the beach. Excellent for us older individuals that have to really work to walk in the sand. The property is in need of some TLC, but I understand that is the consensus from most that stay here. We were able to work around most issues, but I would give the property 3 stars for the condition. We also had issues with the cable TV in all the rooms. Fortunately we brought our own Roku devices, and the WiFi worked OK so we were able to watch TV. (This ain't my first rodeo). I let Steven know about some of the issues we found, so maybe he will address those. Overall a nice place, EXCELLENT location on the beach. Nice neighbors (beautiful great dane in the house next door!). Nightly rate was less than others so we gave it a try. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the home, however it does lack upgrades that would make it a much more enjoyable stay (kitchen and bath countertops, showers, bath sink vanities very short, etc.). Laminate floors downstairs are nice, carpet upstairs could use an upgrade to laminate floors. Initial communication with the property manager was good, however messages went unreturned once we made payment. We had a simple request to add a day to the front or back of the trip, tried more than once to make contact, never received a reply. Again, if you are on a tight budget this place will work just fine. If you are looking for a more upscale experience, consider another option. ##### Jim G. The property was perfect for us. We literally just walked down the steps and were on the beach. The location was very convenient to restaurants , shopping and grocery stores.
