Can drive right to the door until snow builds up. Then its a 300 yard hike to cabin, pack sleds provided. Due to extensive use the trail is packed down. At 77 yrs I have no trouble making the trek in, also caretaker /cleaning lady and repeat guests have no issue. Although if not in good physical shape I would not recommend it. Upon arrival cabin well lit, woodstove burning and cabin cozy. This modern and attractive log cabin sits high on Black Mountain (Ck out photo of location), Jackson NH. It’s surrounded by the privacy of the White Mountain National Forest. It has the feel of being in the wilderness, but minutes to civilization. On a clear night step outside and shut off the lights, you can almost touch the stars, and hear a pin drop. The privacy and spectacular views truly add to this great log cabin.The interior is handsomely furnished, 2 bedrooms, and loft sleeps 6\. A granite countered kitchen which is fully equipped - garlic press to wine glasses. Wood stove fireplace is in main open concept common room area adjacent to dining, and living room areas. The lower walkout level contains a finished recreation room with flat screen/DVD, there is a large film selection.The cell signal is strong , and internet can be accessed on laptop through hot spot on cell. This Magnificent Hideaway is on The White Mtn National Forest Trail System - Bald Land Trail, East Pasture Loop, and Black Mtn Cabin groomed x country trails are right out the door. Jackson Ski Touring maintains 62 miles of groomed trails in the town. At bottom of road is completely renovated Black Mtn Downhill Slopes. And within 20 minutes are Cranmore , Attitash, and Wildcat downhill slopes. A 5 minute ride to Jackson Village, offers some top notch restaurants and taverns all family friendly. People have chosen Jackson for their vacation destination since the 1800’s,and for many good reasons. The town of North Conway is a 20 min ride- tax free shopping and plenty of taverns & restaurants. Cabin is 60 miles from the Maine Coast and 125 miles from Boston. The host couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating, and was full of great insider tips on places to go and things to see (once the roads were safe). Communication was phenomenal start to finish. While we spent less time skiing than we hoped, our kids (4 and 8) were in heaven. They absolutely loved the house and property and want to come back again and again. Dead quiet, day and night, stars are gorgeous, and everyone should get to drink their coffee in front of a big window showing the sun coming up over the mountains. Rooms are big and comfy, variety of hard/soft beds, which was great. Fireplace-stove was fantastic on the chilly nights, and my dogs loved the challenge of the downhill driveway to fetch balls on. George was a consummate host who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for a great stay. Mission accomplished! I cant wait to get back! ##### Mary M. A touch rustic but a perfect family friendly option for myself and three teenage boys. Dog friendly - a huge bonus! Just a short drive from Jackson, the river, and Pinkham Notch AMC Visitor Center. It was peaceful, clean and relaxing environment! George was very communicative especially helpful with guidance in the area and hosting. There are additional costs for the cabin to use linens and trash pickup. I appreciate he offered us the opportunity to take our own linens, towels and dispose of our trash to save on costs. I also had some transportation issues on my side getting there and George was flexible. Nice memories in New Hampshire thanks to the cozy cabin! ##### Nancy O. Our youngest was 7 when we first came and now he is 22! Relax with a book, go for a hike, go for a run or xc ski on the nearby trails, fall asleep in the grass, cook up a good meal, enjoy each other’s company without tv or constant internet distractions. It’s cabin living as it should be. George could teach a masterclass on being the best owner for renters; he’s truly one of our favorite people ever. ##### Betsy L. He called me as soon as we arrived to welcome us and give us an opportunity in case we had any questions. This cabin was wonderfully secluded and I don't think I've EVER seen so many stars at night. The cabin was also so welcoming, and decorated like an outdoorsmens dream! I will say, as the description already says, you will need 4/all wheel drive for the driveway in the snow/mud season. Also be aware that many of Jackson's restaurants are closed in the beginning days of the week, but North Conway is a short drive to many restaurants and shopping! Overall it's a great place to unplug and reconnect with loved ones and the great outdoors! ##### Valerie P. Up a dead end road where the forest trails (ski and hike) begin. For folks who like nature and a calming place. The owner was always available by text and most helpful. It is heated by woodstove 80%, has good cell phone reception, lots of dvds. Center of Jackson with good restaurants 6 min. away. We are planning to return. ##### wendy s. A perfect full size cabin nestled in the woods on the side of a mountain that is as far away as you can be without having to go far away. Our family visited in February for a snow-cation and we weren’t disappointed at all. George, the owner, was very responsive and provided a wealth of recommendations for local amenities and activities. The cabin had all we needed. We even spent two days just in the cabin itself relaxing, reading by the fire, and playing board games. An escape from reality our family desperately needed. I am certain that we will make our way back to “ Thistle Rock!” ##### Thomas C.
