Honestly, I'd read a lot of negative reviews and walked in eith reduced expectations (which is usually best practice). The hotel is conveniently situated with miles of beach on one side and the town of Ixtapa on the other. Lots of locals who were polite and friendly... it's great to see the rise of the Mexican middle class! We didn't stay All-Inclusive and thoroughly enjoyed trying out new restaurants in town daily. There are at least 30! We HIGHLY recommend Sabrina's for Italian, it's only a few minutes walk from the hotel. The room itself was clean with a nice view and friendly maids. AC was great. We had our fridge replaced to keep our bottled water from the grocery store cold. The activity folks know how to play volleyball which is a huge plus for me and were super friendly. We'd often tandem games with the Sunscapes resort next door if there weren't enough players. The water is beautiful! Didn't stay in the pools much, so can't comment on that or the food, but for the price, this is definitely a great bang for your buck hotel. I'd say 4 stars for sure, and I've stayed at many of the 5 star chains throughout Mexico and the Caribbean. Bedding was acceptable, although I do like a firmer mattress. On the other hand, their pillows were firm and excellent in every way. Nice, long walk-in shower, not cramped, felt spacious enough. Overall, I'd recommend staying at this hotel!
