Good place to stay
We enjoyed our stay at Dorsey Hotel, the staff were very friendly and provided great service, the towels were changed n room tidied everyday, the breakfast was very good, great choice and plenty of it with great service! Free parking in a great location and free Wi-Fi, all and all a very good place the only negative was it is really ready for a refurbish which reflects the price we paid

OK for a couple of nights
It was clean, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good, but it was cramped (especially in bathroom) and the shower was either freezing or scalding.

I am sorry you experienced an issue with the shower had you bought this to our attention at the time of stay we would have investigated for you. People who worked their lovely near beach and shops breakfast was lovely and did not wait long room was very clean and comfy tv bit high up on wall may come back again chair strained needs cleaning it is hard geting case up stairs if your second floor up no lift but had good relaxing stay

We make no mention of the availabilty of a lift in our description and guests with mobility issues usually enquire in advance. We hope to welcome you back on some future date.

Managed to get the last room available, on the day, after being double booked elsewhere. Really handy for ferries, hovercraft and bus station, if travelling without a car. Will stay here again! Price included breakfast...excellent value.

We had a lovely stay. Hotel is very clean and a good choice for breakfast. There are quite a lot of stairs which is something to consider if you have mobility issues.

Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate your comments. The hotel is now 180 years old built in the Victorian times prior to lifts being invented. We are not really suitable for persons suffering with mobility issues and thank you for pointing this out.

Helpful staff and management. Great breakfasts!! Comfortable lounge area, older property but lots of character. The only complaint was no heating in communal bathrooms but we we supplied with a heater for the bedroom and a bathroom for our use only!! Overall a very happy stay.

Very nice clean quiet budget hotel. Friendly helpful check in staff. I slept very well in the comfy bed. I was disappointed breakfast didn’t start til 7:30 so missed it due to my 7:45 ferry. Apparently it’s even later during the summer months!

Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate your comment we are restricted on breakfast times due to our central location and being situated in a residential area. We are unable to start the range which is connected to the extractors fans prior to 7.00 a.m. so we do not disturb the neighbours.

The lady who received us on arrival was very helpful and pleasant the large chair one leg was broken and i sat in it and it gave away the reception on the television was terrible no Internet signal hardly the toilet seat wouldn't stay up so whenever you wanted to use it you had to hold it up the radio aerial was broken radio wasn't that great on the breakfast not a great reception received and had to ask for the man who served the breakfast change the TV channel because it was not appropriate for breakfast especially when other guests present were 2 teenage girls overall not a pleasant stay and also the rooms and lounge were very cold in the morning

There are some facts which you have ommitted to mention relating to your stay and your personal requirementsand probably why you left the review annonymously. I am sure you will appreciated that we actioned all your reqests and answered your questions promptly. Sorry that the breakfast tv showed scenes which in your opionion were not suitable. I personally tried to be as friendly as possible to make your stay pleasant in the circumstances but obviously failed in your case.

Cheap and not very cheerful
We had a tiny room with even smaller bathroom. I've never seen a smaller wash basin. The shower door was broken and virtually unusable - replacement were awaited we were told. The room was clean with not a bad view. There was no lift and many stairs. The breakfasts were good and the staff did their best to help. The location was not bad, not far from the centre of Ryde. On our final morning we needed to rise at 5.30am to catch our booked ferry. There was a fire alarm at 4am that took us all out into a very cold garden. The cause appeared to be a fire alarm fault.

Thank you for your review, and feedback. As you say we are cheap and we try to be cheerful at all times depending on the customers approach to us. Being a historic listed building we do not have a lift available, we do not state we have a lift on the websites you used to book the accommodation. The fire alarm was activated by an irresponsible person vaping in the room I am pleased that our alarm system did the job it was susposed to do and we all live to see another day. I am glad you enjoyed the breakfast and the view and thanks you for staying with us and recommend you increase your budget for future stays to ensure the accommodation matches your expectations.

The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was situated in a nice area close to the beach and the centre of the town. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I cannot comment on the breakfast as I just booked the room.

Lovely friendly hotel, comfy bed nice views, great little bar and amazing breakfast, loved their homemade marmalade at breakfast we even purchased some to take home. Great location to ferry/trains and shops. They let us leave our bags until the ferry was due on the afternoon. Will definitely recommend

Close to the town centre, it’s in a hill so if not into hill walking bring your car, great car park next to the property.

Room was quite small , only room for one bedside table due to position of bathroom door , a few things need attention in bathroom , shower head could do with changing , bed was comfy though & clean Could do with a better choice at breakfast a few yogurts & fresh fruit would be nice , does anyone actually eat prunes & tinned grapefruit in this day & age ? Overall a good stay

Great Value Option in Ryde
Really nice small value for money hotel. Approx 6 mins walk from Hoverport, though incline up the road if you have a heavy bag. Breakfast tasty and staff friendly including the managers cat !

What a great find this hotel was, from friendly staff to a spacious twin room with ensuite bathroom. The town was a 5 minute walk and the bath and hover all at hand. Off road park available and the breakfast was all you could ask for 5 star all the way. Thank you for a grea couple of days

We had the nice big garden room. Room was clean. The bathroom needs a non slip mat and something to hold onto to get in and out of the shower. It is at least a 8 inch step to get into. We did hear a television on ALl night. Good location. We did not opt for breakfast.

Adequate for the price
The room (no 28) would be much better if it just had a single bed in it. There would then be room for a bit more furniture (e.g. desk) and I wouldn't have kept hitting my head on the TV. The shower needs updating, and the controls are very confusing. The long list of do's and don't's was a little intimidating but I do understand some guests can be a bit troublesome and inconsiderate! The instructions about late night security are contradictory - it says 'Do ring the door bell at night' and then further down the page says don't ring the bell as it won't be answered. I think the first statement has a 'not' missing. Reception is not staffed all the time - sometimes you have to phone someone. Breakfast OK but no fresh fruit or yoghurts and an extra £3.50 for kippers which have to be ordered 24 hours in advance.

Thank you for your comments and feedback. Whilst we would like to have the reception staffed 24 hours we can not do this with the budget rates we charge for bed and breakfast. The rates paid also reflect in the standard of items available on the breakfast menu the more you pay the higher the quality. We are a budget hotel and the service and the standard we provide matches the price.

It has it good points and bad points firstly the lack of heating in the room and bathroom not heating in the bedroom and heater in the bathroom didn’t work, tea facilities had to put the kettle on the floor so to reach the socket, thing’s light these should of been addressed before letting the room out very disappointed.

Thank you for your comments, a portable electric fire was located in the wardrobe for your use if required. The kettle was working and you just needed to move the lamp forward to plug in the kettle. You booked the smallest and cheapest room in the house and we recommend that you book an en suite room in the future rather than a budget room at £35.00 to avoid disappointment

Shabby and very tired decor. Had to ask for another room due to a not being able to work the shower and the shower door falling off into my arms. Second room slightly better but shower worse than useless. Not even close to the three star I was expecting.

Thank you for your review, we are obviously disappointed that you were unhappy with the facilities provided and were unable to operate the showers which were fully functional. I think you were expecting three star hotel standard, bed and breakfasts offer a different star system and the fact that we only offer bed and breakfast come under the latter. Having asked you on departure if the shower was ok in the second room your reply was just fine. We fully appreciate we can not please everyone all the time but the majority of our customers are satisfied with the facilities.
