The bedroom has been part re-furbished in Winter of 2019\. Sit and watch the tides from the picture window, visit the Otter Hide or, on walks along the shore, see seals and sea eagle. At night you may see Red Deer and even one of our resident Pine Marten or two. There are breathtaking views in every direction and the cottage is reached over a sturdy wooden bridge. It is around 90 meters from the shore. Arrive 'Over the sea to Skye' in true romantic fashion via the five car ferry from Glenelg (operating only from Easter to October but check with Glenelg-Kylerhea Ferry website first.) A very scenic 10 mile drive takes you to a full range of shops, restaurants, hotels and a bank in Broadford, whence boat and fishing trips are available from the pier there. For full internal shots, please contact owner for link. We listen to constructive criticism and work constantly to upgrade our facilities to make your stay as enjoyable as we can. There is Storage Heating for the Winter months, which keeps the house warm and makes it a tranquil refuge for writers and thinkers. EXTRA ! - The RSPB and Forestry Commission have a hide located next to the Kylerhea wildlife hide car park. The hide is staffed five days a week by RSPB information assistants, who provide comprehensive information on the local wildlife. The hide overlooks the ferry and the Kylerhea narrows and during the summer a pair of sea eagles can regularly be seen hunting for fish over the strong tidal flows. The hide also offers the chance of seeing many of the wildlife species including seals, golden eagles, porpoises, otters, common and bottlenose dolphins etc. Basking sharks have even been seen in the kyle. The inside of the hide has displays and information about Scottish wildlife. Younger children can use free backpacks with binoculars, bug boxes, magnifying glasses and a fun set of activities devised by local school children. The RSPB/FCS hide is open from Easter to September and admittance is free of charge. N.B. Ce cottage se trouve face à la mer où une colonie de phoques ont élu domicile. Pour atteindre le cottage on empreinte une petite route «one way » sur 7 miles qui nous donne l’impression d’être au bout du monde. L’endroit est vraiment exceptionnel pour les amoureux de la nature. Il n’y a pas de connexion réseau donc vous êtes réellement coupés du monde. C'est la 2ème fois que nous retournons dans le cottage de Richard et nous espérons y retourner. L'endroit est magnifique, la route pour y accéder est une des plus belles que nous ayons fait en Écosse, un bonheur pour qui aime les single track avec des blind summits spectaculaires. Vous vous sentirez vraiment au bout du monde. A la tombée du jour, de bonnes chances d'y voir des biches ou des cerfs. Prendre le ferry pour Gleneg est un must (en profiter pour visiter Plockton pour un super tour en bateau pour voir les phoques et Duirinich où il y a de bonnes chances de voir des Highland cows). Rerournez sur la jetée le matin vers 7h/8h avant le depart du 1er ferry ou le soir au coucher du soleil a la marée montante et vous pourrez y voir des loutres. Un moment magique. Le cottage est parfait, avec vue sur la plage depuis le salon et la chambre, et sur les montagnes depuis la cuisine. C'est un peu vintage mais c'est ce qui fait son charme. The location is very peaceful with wonderful views and it was good having the Glenelg ferry nearby. The single track road to Kylerhea was also in adequate condition, considering its length. A beautiful solitude, surrounded by incredible scenery & wildlife. It really feels as though you have arrived at the Ends of the Earth. The huge portal of the sitting room window ensures none of this escapes you, even when inside.The croft house has all the basics you need for a comfortable holiday. We found it warm and the bed super comfy. Any slight deficiencies are reflected in the very fair rental price. If you want "Ritz" luxury, go & pay Ritz prices. We enjoyed every minute of our stay here & were sad to leave.The drive in from Broadford or Shiel Bridge is absolutely stunning. Making time for at least one Glenelg ferry crossing is a must. More breath taking scenery, wild life & the famous ferry dogs. Although there is plenty to see, walk & climb around the cottage we had great days out in Torin, Glen Sligachan & Glenelg. Great food & drink at the Glenelg Inn & plenty of safe places to swim. Gives you an excuse to use the ferry...Shaun.Through the swirling mists, we followed the road to the edge of the island & crossed the wooden bridge to find the cottage looking out across the bay. We unloaded the car listening to snorts coming from the beach. How enchanting it is to say Good Morning to fifty seals. Chilling on the rocks like only seals can at low tide. What an exceptional bay this is for flora & fauna with its mesmerising emerald waters flowing through the Kyles. The view is spectacular and easily a place we would return to. The cottage is a few metres from the shore with seals and it has great windows. Unfortunately there was a problem with ventilation and there was a very mouldy smell in every room. Enjoyed Skye as a whole and the direct environment of the crofthouse itself. We liked the quiteness of Kylerhea. We would certainly recommend the Holocaust led, u leds that it was not the most clean house we ever rented. ##### Maya V. We loved watching the seals on the rocks. The house was really cute but it was very dirty, which made it less of a pleasant stay and we would not stay here again. It’s so quiet and peaceful. Soul soothing and special location. The cottage is traditional and has a wonderful large window looking out to the water. We were warm and cosy. On arrival the kitchen cleanliness was not up to expectations and we spent some time cleaning, we had to go into town to purchase detergent and scrubbers. There was also no bin liners or toilet paper to get us started so make sure to bring those things. The cottage smelt of pets when we first arrived but we were able to get rid of that after a few days. Overall though we enjoyed our stay and just loved the views, wildlife and quietness. ##### Linda B. Huisje bereikbaar zoals de eigenaar vermelde over een weg die naar het einde van de wereld lijkt te gaan. Mooi uitzicht over Kylerhea. Zeehonden praktisch voor de deur. Poetsvrouw of poetsploeg had blijkbaar vakantie, daar we de rommel van onze voorgangers nog hebben aangetroffen. Vochtig was het ook, maar met veel regen en heel veel water dichtbij daar niet zo'n punt van gemaakt. ##### Perry D. The reviews are - to say the least, confusing - some suggest it is perfect while others have expressed concerns about the mould throughout & the overall state of disrepair. We have expressed our concerns in detail to the owner along with candid photos but almost everything we shared was disputed. This was our first time using VRBO and we are not impressed. ##### Beverly R. This cottage did not live up to our expectations due to the condition of some fixtures and fittings. The shower head was held together with cable ties and leaked, the bathroom taps were loose in the sink, the toilet seat was loose, the clamp on one of the bedside lights was broken, the small table had a very sticky surface and the entrance to the cottage needed decorating to make it welcoming. ##### Roger W.
