Sit on the private porch outside your door and watch the pool, the passersby on Pavilion Drive on their way to the beach, the cars driving along Ocean Blvd....all while listening to the music that might be playing at Coconut Joe's or the laughter of kids having fun in the pool. It is a favorite of families who want to keep an eye on things but also of couples, friends, or singles who just want to bask in the beach's balmy breezes. This condo has two entrances - one with the porch (by way of the steps on the other side of the building) and the other with a set of stairs by the pool area that has a landing and foyer area. The foyer is used by housekeeping so you may want to keep your door closed - it is not meant for guest storage but you may leave your shoes and beach gear in this area. When you take the entrance by the pool, you walk into the bright cheery condo and the bathroom is right there on the left. PERFECT for coming in from the pool or the beach to use facilities without walking through the whole condo. Step down to the open living and dining area that is flooded with natural light from the 5 windows in the room. The kitchen reminds me of a European style - compact but not too tight, and great use of space. It is actually elevated 3 steps - a throwback from the original building design from "way back" when the original footprint of the building was not only elsewhere on the island, it was much smaller than it is today. (There is history here....we'll be happy to tell you about it during your stay!) The kitchen has everything guests need to prepare meals - oven, stove, pots, pans, dish- and drink-ware, etc. Coffee maker, toaster, and various accessories such as trays are also here for guests to use. There is no dishwasher but we provide plenty of towels so you can wash your own. Or better yet....eat out.... The living space has a new queen sofa-bed and a TV with cable. There is a dining table right beside the window so whoever is working a crossword puzzle can also keep an eye on the teens by the pool. Pull the table out for more space around it - add extra seats that can be found in the bedroom closet. The bedroom has a queen bed and small TV. There is closet space for guest belongings. One thing to note (again) is the location of the bathroom. It is not attached to the bedroom. This is a consideration in terms of access when guests will be using the sofa bed. Guests in the bedroom need not be disturbed by those passing through to use the facilities. And, showering at any time need not be a disturbance to others in the condo. Best of all: The furriest member of the family doesn't have to miss out on all the fun! Dogs only -PLEASE PREAPPROVE PETS OVER 20# - SOME LARGER DOG BREEDS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Reservation will be cancelled if not able to host your pet. Pet fees are according to weight and are required for your pooch to stay. Fee is added on as an extra guest fee. There is a vet clinic right down the street plus an emergency clinic and pet stores in Mt Pleasant for all your pup's needs. Not bringing a pet? Have no fear - we take care to ensure there is no evidence of previous pets. On the Ocean Inn property you will find a pool and two grill areas for use by owners and guests, fee parking, and shared laundry facilities just steps away. The condo is equipped with anything you may need for a short stay or week long vacation. Great location to the beach, shops and the pool is literally inches from the door. Parking is convenient. The bed mattress is very firm with little support but we like a firm mattress, so this was not an issue with us, just letting future guests know. The unit was extremely clean! Here's the issues... The bed is hard. The couch is small and hard. There are numerous stairs throughout the unit. Upon our arrival 30 min early, we were ousted by Debbie Downer the housekeeper who said she had not done her inspection. However instead of just doing the inspection while we waited she locked the door and made us leave until 4 pm check in time? really? Also she locked the door with some of our belongings in the unit! We will never stay anywhere else! The location is the greatest! The communication with the property manager has always been so easy and quick!! Highly recommend!!! My husband and I planned a trip to IOP last minute and this condo (dog friendly) was perfect with only a 4 minute walk to the beach! It was also close to a ton of restaurants and shops making our getaway stress free. Beth, the property manager, made the check in and out process as easy as possible.
