Glorious river side location in area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Right by salt water marshes, masses of migrating birds and waders. Orwell River / tidal estuary at the bottom of our garden. Traditional Country Cottage with modern amenities. Upper garden and lower 2 acre field with pond full of fruit trees, wild life, flowers and migrating birds. Glorious walks and excellent restaurants and pubs in nearby villages. Winter heating and cooking by Aga type stove, fuel at cost. The space River side country cottage 1 hour from London, near Ipswich Suffolk. Séjour de 7 nuits en septembre 2025 ### 6/10 – Acceptable #### Tom F. 9 sept. 2024 Points forts : Propreté #### Sweet rural cottage- but information/write-up is out-dated This is a sweet semi-detached cottage, but is in need of some updating. The house owner and local greeter were both very responsive and helpful with any issues/queries. When we first arrived we were a little saddened that the cottage did not look exactly as it does in the photos. The garden was very overgrown and where in the photos there had been 2 sofas in the sitting room there was just now one sofa. This was not ideal for a family of 5! The write-up also says there was a shower, but this was in-fact a showerhead on a bathtub. It’s also worth taking care if you have a large car. We have a fairly large family car and although we could make it down to the house down the bumpy farm track we realised the vegetation had scratched our car. Having said that the owner was extremely kind and accommodating, allowing us to take our two dogs, and when we raised the state of the garden and the issue with our car he got the grass mowed the same day and helped us get parking at the top of the lane so we didn’t need to drive down it every time we went out. The location being rural was perfect to allow the kids to roam, and is great for walks along the estuary. It’s worth taking note that the garden is not secure and next door and the track is openly accessible- so not suitable for small kids or dogs that wander. In terms of safety, we did notice that there was only one smoke alarm on the ground floor but not one on the upstairs landing, and there was no carbon monoxide detector. ##### Tom F. There was a hornet nest outside the bathroom window and hornets managed to get into the cottage, the hot water had been turned off and even when turned on only enough hot water for one bath which is not ideal for a family of 4.and we saw and we saw at least 2 mice.we went home early. ##### Janet S. The lane to the property was very over geown and unfortunately my husbands car (which has low clearance) was unable to get down it. But the owner soon dorted an alternative for us. The neighbours ford focus had bo problems so i would say this wont be a problem for most! Access down to views over the estuary and walks from the house was great. No wifi but perfectly good signal for 4g - or a good excuse to go off grid. The host was wonderful and communication was excellent. ##### Hannah G.
