We could not stay there as I entered an incorrect date (by one day) and Wotif and/or the venue refused to alter the date. LOUSY service; never going to touch Wotif again, and do not care a rat’s-arse about Central City Backpackers. Close to everything we needed and easy to access main highways when we needed to come and go. The kitchen/lounge facilities were really clean, tidy and user friendly and the attached communal bathroom/shower facilities were as well. Our motel unit was as clean and tidy as it could be but it absolutely stunk of stale cigarette smoke which had seeped into all fabrics in the room. No amount of opening windows and creating draughts through the room could ever lift that smell. On arrival at the Camping Park the woman in the office did not acknowledge me or speak,let alone smile. I was handed a key for cabin 3 but not taken to the cabin in the dark - I arrived after 6pm. The key did not fit No 3, or in fact, any of the cabins. Luckily the manager was back in the office so he finally came and assisted me. He ascertained there was something wrong with the lock and the smoke alarm fell off the roof in that cabin. I was moved to another cabin. When I inquired about transport to the airport in the morning I was told I would have to get a taxi - the manager was off to Queenstown in the morning. Shabby furnishings and mixture of odd blankets on the bed.
