The island of Poel is one of the most beautiful in Mecklenburg. It is located in the center of the Lübeck-Schwerin-Rostock city triangle. A dam (15 km) connects it to the Hanseatic city of Wismar. Timmendorf Strand is located on the western tip of Poel, with the actual town of Timmendorf about one kilometer behind it. It is the most popular beach on Poel and offers ideal conditions for a beautiful Baltic Sea holiday with its lighthouse, pilot house, small harbor, and many water sports facilities.
