Great location at the edge of the pedestrian-only old town area. It's important to call the front desk before you arrive. It's a bit odd that it isn't staffed at least during normal check-in hours. Many, if not all rooms are in a building adjacent to the main one and its entrance is easy to miss the first time. There is a hotel parking space for luggage (un)loading, but this, too, is easy to miss. Breakfast was very good, with coffee specialties and eggs cooked to order. Not a buffet, but served at your table.

Clean, comfortable and convenient.
For an ancient building, this is an excellent hotel. There are some modern improvements but basically you always feel like you are staying in an historic building. I enjoyed exploring every corner and floor. The manager, Eloise, is a wonderful, jovial soul. He is prompt in responding in every request and cooks up a great breakfast. The room was large and spotlessly clean. There were no luggage racks or roomy closets so we lived out of our suitcases on the floor. As for location, it is on the outskirts of Innsbruck, about 20 minutes by city bus to the historic district. Goldeneye Engl is close to everything in Hall in Tirol. The UNESCO world heritage site is right across the street. Great restaurants are behind the hotel and up the hill. We chose this hotel as a last minute addition to our trip through Europe. We are glad we did.

Old and cozy, but needs updating.
Old with a bit of charm, but this is not a good business hotel. It's also not a 4 star hotel. Very misleading. The rooms need a lot of work to live up to that level. Quite outdated.

Quaint and comfortable
The hotel was amazing. Wonderful restored building with lots of original features like wood floors and beams. Our room was huge and comfortable with a great view of the town. The breakfast was delicious and filling. Would highly recommend a stay here.

A beautiful hotel in an excellent location. Staff is friendly and accommodating to families. Hotel restaurants are delicious. Lovely rooms with comfortable beds and a well-stocked bathroom. Highly recommend.

Very Disappointing
I was very excited about my upcoming stay in this hotel. Historic and 4*. The room was fantastic and comfortable. Lots of windows to open - important when it had been 34C during the day. Unfortunately, the check in procedure was terrible. A note on the desk asked us to Dial 11. We were then advised to "Dial 12 and my colleague will check you in". Unfortunately, the colleague was quite rude and told me I had to Dial 11. He was not interested in my explanation that I had already dialled 11, and had been requested to Dial 12. Dialling 11 again we were informed that someone would come to check us in. Which they did. Everything went very nicely after that. The room was good, the dinner in the beer keller excellent. However, breakfast next morning was very disappointing. 1 very small bowl of diced fruit, 1 bread roll each, 2 x slices of ham, 2 x slices of cheese each, freshly squeezed orange juice (excellent) and a hot drink. All well and good, but you can get a better breakfast in lower graded establishments. Free WiFi is offered, but was pretty well non existent in our room. We expected a lot more in the general customer service and breakfast in a 4* establishment, specially one which is a member of Historic Hotels Europe. This hotel was booked using reward points, plus a small amount of money. We would have been quite upset to have paid the full price for this accommodation.

Terrific hotel adjacent to the historic quarter.
Enjoyed our stay in this beautiful historic building with spacious, comfortable and smartly appointed rooms in Hall in Tyrol, also a very short distance for visiting nearby Innsbruck with easy access via public transportation, either by train or bus. The historic center of Hall is just 100 meters from the hotel and chock full of great eateries and featuring many shops with local artisans and offerings. The hotel has two great restaurants featuring local cuisine in either a formal or casual setting. Breakfast was also available and delicious with full offerings as was dinner featuring well prepared and presented regional specialties. Protected, secure, inexpensive parking is also available one block from the hotel. The staff, including the on-sight owner, was most gracious, accommodating and helpful during our stay.

Great Location and Interesting
The Goldener Engl is located a 5-10 minute walk from the train station, which is great if you are backpacking. The hotel itself is clean and has a lot of history. The bar downstairs is great for pretzels and beer, and you can even eat in what used to be a jail. The staff was friendly, but recommended things that they had never been to or seen. I would take their suggestions with a grain of salt and do your own research.

Étape incontournable
Excellente surprise et la plus belle étape de notre périple en Autriche. Accueil très chaleureux, y compris au restaurant à l'ambiance de taverne authentique. Nous avons eu la chance de disposer de la plus belle suite, qui possède énormément de cachet et de confort. Nous avons pu apprécier le sauna dans la chambre et la magnifique vue sur la ville historique et les montagnes. Nous le recommandons sans réserve !

Leider war es nicht mögliche einen Zahlungsbeleg zu erhalten - wir haben über expedia gebucht - daher nicht empfehlenswert für Unternehmen über expedia zu buchen Meine Anfrage beim Hotel wurde sehr "kurz angebunden" abgewimmelt und über den Reiseanbieter hab ich ebenfalls keine Rechnung erhalten - ziemlich ärgerlich
