I had halibut one night and salmon the next. It was served with fresh vegetables from the garden. I had soup and mussels as appetizers and both were fabulous. The breakfast was very underwhelming, cold frittata and French toast with Aunt Jemima syrup ,no fresh fruit as promised. Our server Pierre was polite, efficient and kind. My room,6a ,had a moldy smell. The a/c filters were caked with dust ( I cleaned them out myself) and the patio door to the outdoor did not lock. That was. Bonus with 3 kids. Slept them ate delicious bbq chicken meal. Later James made us burgers that could stand up above anybody. The yurts and domes do not have their own baths. The lodge rooms where we were did. The room had a double bed and a single. The double was quite comfortable, the single not so much. Our room was on the bottom floor. There was a restaurant attached and the option to have a package with breakfast and dinner. Though we didn't have the package we did eat a breakfast and a couple of dinners. The food was excellent. They have music on Thursday and Saturday nights. We were there on Thursday. There was a Cape Britton traditional music group that was wonderful. There is a trail to a bay of the ocean. It is really quite nice. A combination of camping and lodge resort. Property is rustic, but does advertise as a "resort". Overall, accomodations are overpriced like most along the Cabot Trail. No soap or shampoo is made available. Guests don't always bring their own. Uncomfortable futon for bed (in fixed roof accomodation). Just a pitcher of drinking water. Extra charges for amenities such as kayaks - not always the case elsewhere. Extra charges for meals of course, but the dinners weren't exceptional. And the buffet breakfast..... there are photos circulating online.... the "buffet" (in name only) looked nothing like those. In actuality, it consisted of a plastic container of corn flakes, one of yogurt, a basket of small white bread slices, and a plate of scrambled eggs and two sausages delivered by staff. (A pancake could also be had.) There was splash back on the toilet from someone vomiting...that was disgusting. The dining room had a dog wandering around, not okay with people dining. I found the food very expensive with limited amount and not very well cooked. Two green beans and four shreds of carrot does not warrant vegetables...four small cubes of potato and two small chicken thighs that were undercooked. Not happy with the food at all. The right side of the mattress was weak and did not support the sleeper. The layout of the room also presented challenges, particularly with the left side of the bed positioned under a sloped ceiling, which led to multiple instances of bumping our heads when getting up. Additionally, the waste disposal policy was inconvenient. Arriving at the room I was reminded of the $25 for not sorting garbage, which could have been easily avoided if as expected appropriate sorting receptacles were provided in the room from the start. This would have made the process much smoother and more straightforward. The room was very overpriced for what it was and had the feel of staying at a hostel. I felt somewhat misinformed booking this stay, as the room pictures indicated on the website didn’t look like the kind of room my fiancé and I stayed in. This wilderness resort is definitely much more suited to a camping experience, and I would not recommend staying in the lodge in a hotel room.
