Guide de voyage
Ilsington: St Michael's Church There has been a church on this site since the 11th century although the present cruciform building dates from the early 14th century with 15th century additions. In terms of area the parish is one of the largest in Devon. John Ford, the dramatist who wrote the controversial tragedy "'Tis Pity She's a Whore", was born in nearby Bagtor House and baptized in the church on 12 or 17 April 1586.

Trees near Haytor Vale Looking over the Lemon valley from the lane between Smokey Cross and Cottamoor Cross, with the moorland southeast of Hay Tor rising beyond. Flies catch the late sunlight.
Lane near Ilsington This lane, along the north side of the Liverton Brook valley, continues the line of Tipleyhill Lane. Here it is on its way to Narracombe.
