This property is the latest addition to Wind Luxury Properties joining our other properties at Smith Mountain Lake (VRBO #'s648334 Wind Family Estate, 515931 Wind Family Compound, and 825368 A Second Wind), our amazing home on the Rappahannock River (VRBO #966039), as well as one of the nicest homes at Wintergreen Resort (VRBO #1208597). Best Dam View will continue our goal to provide the most luxurious properties in the Mid-Atlantic region! Our properties at Smith Mountain Lak are rented Sunday to Sunday in the summer weeks from the third week of June to Labor Day.. Upon purchasing this amazing home, we immediately undertook extensive renovations to take it to the next level. New in 2020 the home underwent renovations including new floors, fresh paint, new windows to soak in the priceless view of Smith Mountain, a state of the art designer kitchen suitable for a chef, and 2500 square feet of deck space, half of which is under roof. The extensive decks provide outdoor living space to maximize your ability to enjoy the signature view of Smith Mountain Lake's famed "gap," and relax with a cool breeze blowing off the lake only 25 feet away! There are a very limited number of homes on the entire lake that can lay claim to this magnificent view and we look forward to sharing it with our guests. The grandeur of the porches cannot be overstated and you will find yourself wanting to savor every moment on them. This home boasts 5 bedrooms (beds for 12), including 2 true master suites, and 4 full bathrooms. A spacious open floor plan living room was created by removing walls that flows nicely into a dream kitchen with new floors, cabinets, countertops, and appliances. A formal dining room is available, as well as bar seating but we strongly suggest you follow our lead and eat on the deck whenever the weather allows! A virtual wall of glass allows full enjoyment of your view from the kitchen, living room, sunroom, and bar area. Four of the 5 bedrooms allow you to see the lake and mountains from the comfort of our new beds and with access to the decks either directly from the rooms or nearby. Downstairs also provides a ping pong table as well as a card table for rainy day and late night entertainment. Along with an amazing property, we will provide all the luxuries you need to enjoy your stay at the lake including kayaks, canoe, paddle boat, stand up paddle board, fishing rods, and other toys! The close up view of the dam and mountain is breathtaking. The location of being tucked in the little cove helps with the boat traffic in that area. Lots of water toys that were fun. The house layout worked well for us. We needed a few kitchen items that weren’t there. Dock was good with paddle board, kayaks, and canoe. 4 adult life jackets available for use. Inside: Lots of room for family to spread out. We loved the huge dining room table and chairs with backs on them to enjoy the food and the view. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking bowls, pots, and gadgets and all appliances worked well. Having several living areas, game room, sunroom and extra table for puzzles and games allowed everyone to have enough room for various activities. Beds were comfy and bathrooms were clean. Just a few additional details: Driveway is steep. If you have mobility issues, the driveway may be difficult to walk up to the street. There is room for 4 cars to park at the bottom of the driveway- next to the house. Also, Trash pickup service was not available We had to take our trash to the dump which was 10 minutes (one way) from the house. Also, I had to spend the first hour after arrival removing the leaves from the walkways, stairs and decks to prevent guests from slipping on the leaves. It was disappointing that the rental agency hadn’t done this prior to our arrival. It gave a poor first impression. Overall the house is a fantastic rental and all of our family members were very happy with our week on the lake. I highly recommend this property for any family reunion ##### Jeanne K. We had an amazing stay at this property for our summer vacation. It’s nice to find a home that is updated and clean in this neighborhood! The upstairs are with the kitchen, dining room, and tv are leading out to the porch was the best place to hang out with everyone. This view of the mountain and waterfront is one of the best on the lake! Definitely returning here! We really enjoyed our time on the dock and the access to the paddle board, kayaks, and canoe was really nice. We rented a boat and had plenty of space to tie it to the dock. I do have a few areas where we were concerned. They should tell us in advance that no shampoo or body wash is available. They should make the beds before we arrive. We all realized after a fun night that when we were going to bed, all the sheets were on the bed and we had to make them. Overall cleanliness was sub par. Ages of kids ranged from 3-12 years of age. The house had plenty of rooms to accommodate us all. Beds were comfortable. The deck and dock were the highlight. There are kayaks, canoes and a paddle board. It’s a two story dock and the views are awesome. Mitchell marina is around the corner which makes it easy to rent boats. We rented a pontoon. Aug 7, 2025 Liked: Location, listing accuracy Disliked: Communication The view is beautiful and the host provided a paddle board, 2 kayaks and a canoe that allowed us to enjoy the lake very much. However the communication with the host was very difficult. I had send her a message to ask about life jackets 3 weeks prior to our check in and did not get a response until reached out to VRBO the day before our arrival and was told that we need them for heavy adults and kids. Once arrived at the property, we could not find the life jackets and after multiple attempts to reach the host ,was told that we might be able to find 1 in the basement. The access to the dock does not have any railing at the end and if you have members in your party who have problems with their joints and walking they will not be able to go down the dock. Their upper level deck has an uneven surface that increase the risk of falls. Although bathrooms and floors and bedroom were clean but there were spider webs on the corners as well as a half fallen vent cover . Over all the location of the property compensated for most of its falls but I wish the host would be more responsive and attentive to the details. ##### Atoussa F.
