Our family comes to Houghton/Higgins lake every year, and this has been our favorite place to stay. The check in was simple and the home was clean, furnished beautifully, and decorated to make it feel like home. The home had everything we needed and more, from plenty of towels, to tons of dishes/cooking items - along with spices and simple pantry items. The kayaks were fun to use, and the private dock makes renting a pontoon for the week easy and stress-free. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The backyard was large and shaded with nice landscaping. The patio furniture was comfortable and the solar powered lights were a nice touch. Our family was really bummed when the power went out for 2 days, but the hosts were extremely communicative, and more than accommodating, offering us a partial refund, a free night in the future, and even a hotel stay if we wished. A generator was hooked up for us, and the hosts went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable during this situation that was out of their control. I am looking forward to returning next summer.
