Local bus routes include; Route 173 (Bakewell to Matlock) and Route 172 (Buxton to Bakewell). Route 173 is the main bus route passing through Stoney Middleton, linking the village to Bakewell (about 5 miles away) and Matlock (around 7 miles away). Both Bakewell and Matlock are popular market towns with plenty to see and do with local attractions including shopping and dining. Route 172 connects Stoney Middleton to Buxton (about 5 miles away), another market town known for its Georgian architecture and the Buxton Opera House. The bus also runs to Bakewell, making it a useful service for accessing both towns.
